Description
ON8696: Bushcraft Field Knife
Ontario Knife Company

Rugged, Dependable, Simplicity; three hallmarks that make Ontario Knife Company an award-winning producer of some of the world’s highest quality and most functional hunting, bushcraft, and wilderness survival tools. Bushcrafting knives are renowned in the industry for their comfort in hand during long periods of use. They minimize what are called "hot spots" where pain develops in the hand while cutting, splitting or whittling. Ontario has created this slim, sleek fixed blade ideally for Bushcrafting but it works just as well as a field, camp, or hunting knife as the 5160 carbon steel blade will take a very fine edge. Includes black nylon sheath.

Great knife poor sheath
The knife itself is amazing! When I ordered this knife the description said it came with a USA made sheath, however the knife I received came with an amazingly poor Chinese made sheath. I noticed that knifecenter just recently changed the description of the knife that now says it comes with the sheath I received. I would rather Ontario just not send a worthless sheath with an otherwise excellent product.

Best Of Best Award Winner
This knife was winner of Field & Stream’s, 2014, ‘Best of Best Award,’ and for good reason. The first reason is Dan Maragni’s excellent 5160 high carbon steel. See: review of “Bushcraft Utility w/DeSantis Sheath” for further info on this fine steel. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Reason 2: An excellent saber grind and blade design make this knife suitable for dressing game, utility, and many bush craft duties. This would make a nice medium sized camp knife, too. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Reason 3: Love the handle. Beautiful American walnut scales provide a most generous, comfortable, and beefy grip. The front guard (quillion) and bird’s beak rear quillion give a feeling of security, control, and confidence. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Reason 4: Old-school aesthetics. Ruggedly, simplistically, handsome. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> If, you don’t like the sheath, buy a nice 5 star rated, basket weave leather sheath from KnifeCenter.com (inexpensive). Unfortunately, a review by: Yigo, from, Guam, of this knife with The DeSantis Sheath has disappeared into the internet ether, when the sheath was discontinued. He had good insights into this knife, and the 5160 steel. One thing he recommended was to lightly sand the handle, then, treat it with Ballistol wipes. I took his advise, and was pleased with the results. Works well on leather sheaths, too. Nuff said. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The OKC Bushcraft Field Knife, and Bushcraft Utility, are easily among my top 10 fixed blades. They are the best, of the best.
