SP165GP2: C165GP2 Autonomy 2

Spyderco

Spyderco's Autonomy model revolutionized automatic knife design with several pioneering features, including a patented module that allows the blade's kick spring to be easily replaced without complete disassembly. Now the Autonomy 2 packs all the defining qualities of the original into a stout, high-performance auto-optimized for general utility use. Its full-flat-ground, leaf-shaped blade is crafted from nitrogen-based LC200N rustproof steel and paired with an ergonomic handle featuring full stainless steel liners, textured G10 scales and an easily indexed oversized firing button with safety. A broad-based hourglass clip straddles the handle's lined lanyard tube and is reversible for left or right side, tip-up carry.

Great Auto Option
Knife has a nice snap. Dog bowl button works great with gloves, easy one hand operation. Blade centering is perfect. Lock up is extremely tight for an auto, virtually no play front to back and side to side. The blade is extremely sharp, arguably my best slicing knife. The profile on the blade is thinner than other Spiderco knives. Knife has held up well to sweaty pockets dirt and grime. Blow it out and it keeps on working, no problem with deployment. It has because my new favorite carry option.

Extremely well engineered knife
EDC, super fast open. Let’s face it, any switch blade the weak link will be the spring. Sooner or later it will wear out. Is that the manufactures answer to planned obsolescence? Buy another knife from them? The engineering of this knife is superior to anything out there. Spyderco says they sell a spring kit with a tool to change out the spring with out disassembly of the whole knife. It is a modular design. This is a big WOW! Bought from KC and totally satisfied with my purchase!

Bad news
The action of this knife feels like someone tried really hard to make it bad. It will snap open alright, barely. So much grit in the action. The grind of the blade has chunks at the base and gets worse. I bought a Manix XL black and another regular size satin that are flawless. Something must be up with Spyderco to make a knife this bad. I'm going to try some CLP, knowing I can't send it back then. I would wait for another production run for this really nice knife rather than buy this knife now.
