The Robin’s intermediate size makes it a winning crossover for both office or weekend carry. Now it is being offered with a black G-10 laminate handle. G-10 is a woven epoxy filled laminate that’s grippy in the hand, is nearly indestructible, repels moisture and chemicals and won’t retain heat or cold. Flat-ground, the blade is made with high carbon 8Cr13MoV and available with a plainedge or combination plain/serrated cutting surface and has the byrd comet-shaped hole for one hand opening/closing. Jimping (texturing) at the spine and choil keep the folder firmly in your grip creating purchase and control even when cutting strenuously or for long periods of time. A tip-up, right or left-hand pocket clip lets you to clip the folder inside a pocket or waistband.
8Cr Stainless Steel
One of the most common budget stainless steels, it maintains a competitive combination of edge retention and toughness in its price range.
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.
Lockback
The lockback system has been used for many decades. It can usually be found on the knife spine and it provides a strong lockup that will wear well.
The knife came hair shaving sharp. However, the blade was fitted diagonally between the liners. This made the blade opening very tight and difficult when it reaches 3/4 into the opening. I believe this is just a one time issue but I do hope the knives could be checked for any defects first before shipping in future.
Pros: Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Overall Quality
Cons: None
Very nice
This is a very nice, small EDC. The Robin 2 G-10 is a solid performer and the frame/handles are sturdier than the FRN version. It is slightly heavier than the FRN, but worth it. My FRN Meadowlark has become sloppy and I have been unable to snug the blade pivot., but the G-10 Robin model remains solid. The blade steel is decent and sharpens easily. A good buy for $25 and KnifeCenters great service.
I went to my local knife shop which stock most of the top quality brands here in South Africa. Overall it's a great knife if you are looking for something light in your pocket. I looked at 7 or so knives and It was the best one I could find in its class. I really don't know it is in my pocket. When I run it does not swing around. Don't let the lightness put you off as the quality is solid. Don't get the longer version as it hurts your index finger when you hold it with intention. I got this knife for self defence and also DIY around the house and work. The blade is long enough to do some major damage if you slash an attacker but not too long that it gets in the way of carrying it everyday.
