SP271TIP: C271TIP Slym - Polar Dark Matter FatCarbon

Spyderco

Produced by LionSTEEL exclusively for Spyderco, the Slym elevates Michele Pensato’s popular Skinny design with the user-friendliness of Spyderco’s Trademark Round Hold in the blade. This lean folder features a full-flat-ground, drop-point blade crafted from Bohler M390 particle metallurgy stainless steel. In addition to its fully accessible Round Hole, the stonewashed blade also includes a removable flipper tab and rides on ball bearings for ultra-smooth action. The Slym’s unique handle is precision machined from a single piece of titanium using LionSTEEL’s SOLID technology. It also boasts a durable gray physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating and a black-and-white Dark Matter Polar Fat Carbon Fiber inlay on the obverse side. The handle’s reverse side is home to a sturdy Reeve Integral Lock (R.I.L.) mechanism that includes a long-wearing hardened steel interface. To keep the knife poised for instant access, the handle also features both a generously sized lanyard hold and a butt-mounted, deep carry pocket clip that is reversible for left or right-side carry.

Breathtaking.
The Spyderco Slym has been one of my grail knives since I saw it for the first time. After finally having it in my hands, I can confidently say that this is the coolest piece of equipment I own. The fat carbon, the blade shape, the integral handle made from titanium. The thing is a beast. There is a small / microscopic horizontal scratch from the pocket clip shifting slightly in transit. Other than that it's flawless. Such a sick freaking knife. I love carrying it, it opens boxes just fine. Although opening boxes is not what this thing is made to do no, no, this knife belongs front and center on display. But it does see pocket time. In fact I need to clean the blade its got some tape marks. But yeah, extremely happy with this knife, glad its mine now. I will cherish it forever.

Spyderco Slym
Liked at first and starting to love it. Has a great smooth action from the spydie hole doing reverse or thumb flicks. The flipper works well I wish it was a tad longer or on a bit of an angle and had a line or two of jimping. But still works well with the light switch motion. The lockup and disengagement is great and with a little shake it drops shut nicely. An easy one handed user. The blade is a great shape for edc and has a slightly thick behind the edge that I’m actually happy about with it being m390 and not the most resistant to chipping when not being carful so that will help. The handle is were all the amazement lies. That integral titanium frame lock and the butt positioned pocket clip is perfect. The dark matter polar fat carbon inlay looks great with the gray pvd coated frame. A great knife, easy one handed user. Great materials for a price well under what these combos usually go for!

Not the best EDC
Great product quality, but it is not the best EDC knife. Opening action is not smooth, and lock release mechanism is not the best. Need both hands to operate, or else could be dangerous, specially to release lock.
