The Spyderco Salt 2 takes all the advanced features of the best-in-class Delica 4 folding knife and supercharges them with 100% rustproof nitrogen-based H-1 ultra-corrosion-resistant blade steel. Its hollow-ground blade is available with a choice of PlainEdge or SpyderEdge cutting edges and features a fully accessible Trademark Round Hole for ambidextrous, one-handed opening. It is accompanied by a high-strength back lock mechanism housed in an injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle. The bright yellow linerless handle has Bi-Directional Texturing for a secure grip in and out of the water and four sets of threaded inserts to anchor a versatile, four-position titanium pocket clip. Completely ambidextrous and utterly impervious to corrosion, the Salt 2 is destined to make big waves.
In early 2023, Spyderco announced a rolling change for their Salt series. Originally produced in H1 stainless steel, the Salt series is being transitioned to H2 stainless steel which provides increased corrosion resistance. The original H1 version may still be shipping. This is my sole long distance backpack knife. Easy to see, easy to care for, great ergo's, great tactile feel and super sharp. Put a small 55 cord dongle on it for easy deployment. It's also a near perfect EDC for all the same reasons, just a little bright poking out of a pocket (get one in black).
