Description
SP94PCBL: C94PCBL UK Penknife CPM-SPY27
Spyderco
Originally designed to comply with restrictive British knife laws, the UK Penknife has developed a cult following among pocketknife enthusiasts worldwide. The original SLIPIT model, it combines one-hand opening via the Trademark Round Hole with the convenience and accessibility of clip carry. This unique expression of it showcases a full-flat ground blade crafted from CPM-SPY27, a cobalt-enriched particle metallurgy stainless steel developed specifically for Spyderco. The blade is complemented by FRN handle scales molded in a distinctive cobalt blue that is one of the signature colors of the family of knives featuring this proprietary steel.

Very comfortable knife to work with.
Had protective stops on closing to protect hand. Remarkably firm and safe in design. The blade design and grind is spectacular. Very sharp with great edge geometry. One of the most comfortable knives to hold and use I own. Lightweight but sturdy. Great knife.

Incredibly well made and designed
The fit and finish on this knife is about the best I have ever seen. And I have plenty of Spydercos so that is saying something. The blade is so well cut and sharpened. The handle is very comfortable. I had a much earlier version of UK Penknife and this is so much better made. You would have to work at closing this on your hand. It is very rigid and takes some force to close. Only one complaint. By design I am sure, the jimping on the blade is very aggressive to point of discomfort. I have seen others comment on this elsewhere as well. I spent a half hour or more taming the shap points on the jimping with a crock stick. Other than that, it's perfect in design, materials, comfort, and build.
UPDATE ON REVIEW
I have a number of Spyderco knives. I have several of these slipjoint hybrids. Fit and finish is outstanding. Blade edge and design is typical Spyderco brilliance. This model fits in the hand well and is very lightweight. Has nice deep carry clip. One flaw for me. These models are super hard to close. You can tell Spyderco is working here to have a knife that will stay open and not close on you even though it has no lock. It has a lot of resistance to closing from totally open and then again st the halfway point. It is the latter I do not like. I find the hard stop at half way tales so much force to close that it makes the knife less easy to work, use, and likely less safe. It takes a lot of force and is not pleasant. An otherwise 5 star, nearly perfect knife for everyday use is diminished by this, hence the 4 stars. I would buy again and did, but I'd like the design far better if it was easy to use one handed. This does not feel safe one handed. Not to me.
