The byrd Cara Cara Rescue has a Sheepfoot, safety shaped 8Cr13Mov stainless steel blade. Its hollow-ground, fully serrated for sliding safely under rope, seatbelts or clothing and offer the highest level cutting performance. Ergonomic comfort is equally important as cutting ability in a rescue knife so the fiberglass reinforced nylon handles are Bi-Directionally Textured and have jimping above the Comet Shaped Hole and along the finger choil. Both models have a four-way clip that carries: right/lefthand, tip-up/tip-down. A half-moon of steel removed from the locking lever (called a David Boye Dent) lessens the chance of gripping the knife tightly enough during use to inadvertently unlock the blade. Safe and smart.

Perfect!
I use this knife for many camping duties. It far outperforms some of my more expensive pocket knives because the serrations run the entire length of the blade. It feels sturdy enough to last, though I haven't had it long enough to know for sure. I can highly recommend the Cara Cara as an inexpensive high quality tool.

Great Rigging Knife
I work in the industrial maritime industry and often use rope to secure things and make taglines and pull in lines, so I cut a lot of rope. This is the best rigger's pocket knife I have ever found and it is cheap and heavy duty, a professional tool. It is heavy in the hand, the blade is thick and strong, the serrations are deep and aggressive, the blade is 4 inches long, has a grippy handle, is easy to deploy and open / close with gloves on and is a sheepsfoot blade so to lessen the chance of an accidental stab into something I didn't want to cut. It sits about an inch above the top of your pocket so its easy to grab when working, but I dont carry it outside work because of its size.
