The New Big Benji
The Big Benji is a fantastic pocket knife. I collect many knives and carry 1 in my pocket EVERY DAY which brings me to my 1st positive about the knife. The handle is very thin which concerned me on first impression of not being comfortable in my hand to do any type of work with it however the wide body of the handle along with the radius they profiled the handle edge with makes it surprisingly comfortable for hard work. The thickness of the closed knife in my pocket is better than Most of my Much higher priced knives because it allows me, to fully use my jean pocket while its clipped in there with almost no obstruction of access to my pocket ! It is a large folder but the smoothness of opening and closing the blade is amazing to me and almost feels like it is a spring assisted knife even though its not, due to the smoothness and ease of opening it. Finally , the grind that has been used on this blade and the material chosen for it is absolutely perfect, and by that I mean that I use all my knives as if they are just extensions of my hands but that much use means they get dull and must be maintained and sharpened to continue to be useful to me. I found that a fine 600 grit or higher steel, or stone, whichever I have at the end of the day depending on where Im at takes about 3 or 4 passes on each side following the original grind angle from the company usually returns this blade back to a very near razor blade sharpness , literally suitable to shave with. Sorry for the lenght of this review but it was necessary for such a great knife that is also priced low enough that everyone can afford it . So buy 1 if your in the market and you WON'T be disappointed , That is a rare thing to honestly say in this day and age.
