Description
TCTRDHKBKBKL: Taylor Martin Redhawk Fixed Blade - Black/Black/Leather
Tactile Knife Co.
Written by the designer Taylor Martin:
After starting to carry a daily fixed blade, I eventually realized there wasn't one that quite checked all the boxes for me. There are several mainstays, for sure. But I wanted one very specific that I could never find. Enter the Redhawk. Coming in at just under 7" overall, the Redhawk is a solid medium-sized knife – incorporating an overall curve that helps drive the blade into cuts. It also has a reverse tanto or modified sheepsfoot blade with a small amount of belly, tall blade profile, and 0.12" blade thickness which gives it, in my opinion, one of the most well-rounded blade styles for everyday use.
The acute tip and thin, slicey blade are nice for fine work and puncturing while the handles feature a scalloped area towards the blade for a great pinch grip. It's really comfortable to use and, one of my favorite things I've mentioned about EDC fixed blades for a long time now, it has a full-sized handle with a slightly undersized blade. Chef's kiss.
Years in the Making
Tactile has been friends with Taylor for as long as Tactile Knife Co. has been around — running into him at the various knife shows, sending new products for an honest opinion, or just following the latest from Best Damn EDC. Beyond his obvious charisma on and off camera, one of Taylor's best characteristics is a keen eye for design and a discerning sense of what makes a quality everyday carry. They couldn't be more excited to finally partner on the Redhawk and look forward to many future projects and collaborations.
Kydex or Leather Sheath?
You can't go wrong with either but, if belt carry is your preference then the polyvinyl Kydex sheath is the way to go. The included Discreet Carry Concepts Clip system offers next-level retention with increased concealability, making this the most versatile Redhawk sheath. If you prefer pocket carrying and/or carrying inside the waistband, try the Leather Sheath made by Chattanooga Leatherworks for a more traditional look. A strong pocket clip and inner catch ensure that your sheath stays secure and, with just a Phillips head screwdriver, you can change the location of your clip for right or left-side carry.
