WEK2004I: 2004I Ben Petersen Banter Folding Knife - Purple G10 KnifeCenter Exclusive

We Knife Company

Designed by Ben Peterson, the Banter is named for the video series that he helped pioneer during his time. The color is truly fantastic. The Banter is his collaboration with We Knives drawing inspiration from other folding knives with the sole aim at being the perfect EDC piece. We think Ben succeeded and this knife is an impressive tool that hits a lot of marks right on the nose.

First and foremost, the Banter is an ideal size for everyday carry. The nearly three-inch blade is housed in a compact handle so the overall length is just a hair over six-and-a-half inches. The wide base gives you ample room to grip and places the cutting surface right next to the fingers for more leverage. It's a simple shape with simple G10 and stainless steel liner construction but what it lacks in design aesthetics it more than makes up in terms of ergonomics and strength. It's comfortable, solid, and it just flat out gets the job done. Dual thumb studs allow multiple opening methods but the deep-carry pocket clip is now set-up for tip-up, right or left-hand carry on this exclusive model. The jimping on the thumb ramp is ultra-functional and the lanyard hole is large enough for 550-paracord. Ben thought of everything on the Banter and we welcome it as a force to be reckoned with in the growing realm of EDC knives.

Excellent Banter
The WE Banter is a very good looking knife, but it is also very useful, I use mine mostly for opening and cutting up boxes, cutting rope, and occasionally zip ties, and it never fails me. It has very good edge retention and only needs to be sharpened for a few minutes, and it's razor sharp just like it came out of the box. I highly recommend the Banter, either for an every day user, or even as a little show off piece.

Slightly disappointed
Knife is well made and fits hand well for a small knife but when it arrived it tested 364 on average on my Bess sharpness tester which is pretty poor but after resharpening it is now at 107 on the scale and is remaining sharp after some moderate use.

Perfect EDC
I am a hobby collector and EDC carrier. In my opinion the WE Banter is perfect. Good blade length, legal in most states. It has a robust build. Perfectly centered blade with no slop what so ever. I have more expensive knives in my collection but this is my favorite. Love the weight, bladedesign and ease of opening and closing. I admit the lock can be a bit stiff but I don't see it as a problem as it gets easier with use. It could also be used as a defensive weapon if needed. I also own the Civivi baby banter and it too is a favorite of mine. The Banter just adds some beef and a larger blade. I like shopping the Knife Center as they always have a great selection with good prices and they ship fast!
