We Knife Company
Designed by Ben Peterson, formerly of the Headquarters in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the Banter is named for the video series that he helped pioneer during his time there. Even years after he's been gone, the quality he brought to their videos remains. The Banter is his collaboration with We Knives drawing inspiration from other folding knives with the sole aim of being the perfect EDC piece. We think Ben succeeded and this knife is an impressive tool that hits a lot of marks right on the nose.
First and foremost, the Banter is an ideal size for everyday carry. The nearly three-inch Wharncliffe blade is housed in a compact handle so the overall length is just a hair under six-and-a-half inches. The wide base gives you ample room to grip and places the cutting surface right next to the fingers for more leverage. It's a simple shape with simple carbon fiber and stainless steel liner construction but what it lacks in design aesthetics it more than makes up in terms of ergonomics and strength. It's comfortable, solid, and it just flat out gets the job done. Dual thumb studs allow multiple opening methods but the deep-carry pocket clip is now set up for tip-up, right or left-hand carry on this exclusive model. The jimping on the thumb ramp is ultra-functional and the lanyard hole is large enough for 550-paracord. Ben thought of everything on the Banter and we welcome it as a force to be reckoned with in the growing realm of EDC knives.

Great Knife!
Great EDC knife with blade under 3 inches long, making it legal to carry in most of Massachusetts, although not legal in Boston being over 2.5 inches. This is my first WE knife and I'm favorably impressed. Wonderful fit and finish in every way. Smooth thumb stud opening and ball bearing closure. Lovely Micarta finish and Wharncliffe blade. The only thing that might make it better would be if it were to have a button lock. Based on my positive experience, I'm now eyeing other WE and Civivi knives!

My 2nd Banter, I've had the original drop point version for several years, really great knife. This version is really light, smooth action, perfect for everyday carry. My only issue is the sharpness just wasn't there over the entire length of the blade. The middle portion of the blade wasn't as sharp as the rest of the blade. Great knife tho and will definitely be looking out for a 3rd at some point in the future.

One inch larger than a Baby Banter Wharnie
I own over 40 Civivi and 5 Sencuts knives and this is my first We knife, the top tier line of this company. I was attracted to this knife because it looks like my Civivi Baby Banter Wharnclife; I thought the black burlap micarta handle paired with the black wharncliffe blade also looked fantastic and very similar to my Civivi Baby Banter Wharncliffe.I love my Civivi Baby Banters and own 5 different versions of them. What sets this knife apart from the Baby Banter is the better blade steel. I had avoided the full size We Banter for several years because people complained it was hard to access the liner lock and close the knife, but this isn't a problem with this new version of the We Banter Wharncliffe knife. Its very easy to close with blade with the improved and readily accessible liner lock, and crisply deploy the blade with an easy flick of the thumb stud. This knife fits very comfortably in my hand and when deployed is about an inch longer than a fully opened Civivi Baby Banter Wharncliffe. I highly recommend this knife for its looks, sharpness, and size and it makes for a great addition to my knife collection.
