What are the primary uses for the Hogue Extrak?
While originally designed as an ultra-lightweight hunting knife for field dressing, the Hogue Extrak also makes a highly compelling everyday carry (EDC) fixed blade. Its thin blade stock is optimized for exceptional slicing performance, making it as useful for daily cutting tasks as it is deep in the field.
What steel is used on the Hogue Extrak?
The Hogue Extrak series features high-performance blade steels, including CPM-M4, which offers outstanding edge retention and toughness. Because CPM-M4 is not a stainless steel, these models are coated with a protective Cerakote finish to prevent corrosion. Select models in the series are also available in CPM-MagnaCut steel.
How much does the Hogue Extrak weigh?
The standard Hogue Extrak is incredibly lightweight, coming in at just 1.9 ounces. This featherweight construction ensures that the knife remains comfortable and unobtrusive to carry, whether tucked into a pack or worn on your belt.
What sheaths are included with the Hogue Extrak?
Every Hogue Extrak comes with two sheath options: a minimal nylon slip guard and a molded Kydex sheath. The lightweight nylon slip is ideal for protecting the edge inside a backpack, while the Kydex sheath features an included UltiClip for pocket or belt carry.
How is the handle of the Hogue Extrak designed?
The Hogue Extrak handle features textured G10 scales with plenty of length for a secure, comfortable grip, but maintains an incredibly thin profile. This slim design minimizes overall bulk and weight, allowing the knife to carry discreetly while still offering excellent control during long, deep cuts.
