Understanding the MKM DCA Pocket Tango Fixed Blades
Winner of the Best Factory Fixed Blade award at BLADE Show West 2024, the MKM Pocket Tango series features an innovative magnetic carry system designed by David C. Andersen. These knives combine premium Italian manufacturing with ergonomic geometry specifically optimized for convenient pocket carry.
What kind of steel does the MKM Pocket Tango use?
The MKM Pocket Tango series is crafted from Magnacut steel, which provides a high level of toughness and corrosion resistance. This advanced material allows the thin blade geometry to maintain a sharp edge through extensive use without being prone to chipping or rusting.
How does the magnetic pocket sheath work?
The included leather sheath uses magnets to provide retention for both the knife and the sheath's position within the pocket. This system is reversible for left or right hand carry and ensures the sheath remains anchored inside the pocket when you draw the MKM Pocket Tango.
What are the differences between the handle materials?
The MKM DCA Pocket Tango series offers working versions with textured G10 or canvas Micarta and upscale versions featuring olive wood or marbled carbon fiber. While the G10 and Micarta provide a more rugged, high-traction grip, the wood and carbon fiber options offer a refined aesthetic for formal carry.
Why is the handle on this series angled?
The downward angle of the handle allows for better tip control and makes the MKM Pocket Tango easier to draw from a deep pocket. This specific geometry also keeps the handle tucked to the side when not in use, preventing it from obstructing access to other pocket items.
What makes the Pocket Tango a good EDC choice?
The MKM Pocket Tango excels as an EDC tool because it offers the strength of a fixed blade in a footprint small enough for pocket carry. By removing moving parts like hinges or locks, the design remains easy to clean and reliable for various utility tasks.
