AMK9202: 40th Anniversary SERE Assisted Flipper

Al Mar Knives

The SERE 2020 is world renown as one of the strongest tactical folders in existence. Originally designed by Al Mar and Colonel Nick Rowe in the early 1980s for the U.S. Army’s SERE school, today’s updated models are stronger and the most precisely crafted versions they-ve ever made. This 40th-anniversary SERE 2020 features black FRN handles with the dragon hyde texturing, pillar construction, flow-through design, and Al Mar's left/right reversible deep carry pocket clip that provides a discrete way of carrying the knife and delivers the kind of performance you need in the real world. The blade features the AL Mar 40th-anniversary logo and there is a special gold insert that shows the same. Celebrate 40 years of this classic knife design!

Well built and strong
I bought the Al Mar SERE 40th anniversary edition mainly because it is a stout knife. I needed a folding knife that had a thick spine and strong locking mechanism. For example - I use this knife for puncturing holes into objects….mainly when helping the wife with gardening/yard work…often times those plastic planters do not have holes in the bottom for drainage..it’s easier for me just to use a pocket knife to quickly put drainage holes with a pocket knife rather than go get a drill out. This knife did it easily, and because of its weight it did so with less effort. I view a folding knife as more of tool than anything else, and use it accordingly. And this a great for both, knife and tool…(god I feel like tool writing this)Mainly, I wanted a heavy duty utility folding knife with the the flipper option. Something I would not be afraid to use and abuse…I carried around a Opinel for awhile, but almost broke it…tried a thinner folding knife, but was worried about breaking the tip - S.O.G Salute Mini.. this Al Mar SERE also is big enough to manipulate with work gloves on…

Pros: Handle Material, Blade Material
Cons: Weight
beast of a knife
Pros: built like a tank, liner material extremely strong and thick. Came very sharp and opens very easily. 'Fishscale' handle texture feels good.Cons: It is on the heavy side. Some folks might take issue with the size of the handle vs. blade size. Personally, I don't. Gets a good grip in your hand. Only the weight could be considered a negative. This comes with the blade strength and overall overbuilt construction. Had a hard time not giving it a '5'.

Great
Hey, to anyone interested in this blade. It’s a heavy duty serious folder should hold up through the apocalypse! I am very impressed having owned decades ago the original Al Mar knives! Not quite as high quality but definitely worth this price! Comes stupid sharp thick heavy duty blade my particular version could of been a little tighter but that is part of my reason for this evaluation. Buy HERE NOT Amazon! My first Al Mar 40th wasn’t in the box upon opening it! Finally they sent a 2nd it’s really great but there is a tiny bit of play laterally in the blade upon lock up! But with all the hassles of dealing with Amazon my advice is; BUY HERE! If you get this knife you won’t be disappointed unless you expect the world for $40.00! Lol! It’s a great knife period especially for the cash outlay!
