Case Knives

The Kinzua is a modern chapter in the story of Case knives. This new one-handed opening knife features an CPM-S35VN tanto blade with a stonewashed finish. The knife handle is made of durable, lightweight anodized aluminum with a triple-faceted face. Its flipper design offers quick and reliable deployment with a simple flip of your index finger and snaps open on a ball bearing pivot. The frame locking mechanism secures the blade in position when fully opened. A reversible deep-carry steel pocket clip allows for a comfortable, and versatile, pocket carrying experience. The Kinzua name is inspired by a scenic stretch of forest in the Allegheny region and the knife is a part of the first collection of Modern Everyday Carry knives to be crafted in their Bradford, PA factory.

Pros: Blade Material
Cons: None
Does NOT Stay Completely Closed
I purchased this knife as a work knife because of its larger size and blade thickness. I would consider this knife a medium use rather that a hard use knife. It does a fantastic job for me when it's opened and being used. The deal breaker for me is that when the blade is closed, there is enough play in the "locked" closed position to expose the very sharp tip of the Tanto blade. I have knicked my finger on this enough to bleed. I have also cut a nice nylon shell medium weight jacket due to this issue. I will be reaching out to Case about this. VERY disappointed, I really like the size and operation of this USA made knife. The problem with the non countersunk screws of the pocket clip is real and does beat up the seam of my pocket, but I could live with it. I would find countersunk screws and fix this issue myself if the knife would just close properly.

Pros: Ease of Opening, Blade Material, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Pocket Clip
Case goes modern
Who would have thought, Case of all people would introduce a frame lock flipper knife. I had to buy one to see for myself and immediately upon opening my package, which arrived from knifecenter in very short time, I was shocked. First, the new packaging they used for the knife is very well done and considerably better than higher priced brands. The knife itself is very nice as well. The flipper tab is large enough that its nearly impossible to fail opening it and the bearings ensure it flies open on the first try. The detent is strong, which makes closing it somewhat of a chore, but hopefully it will break in with some time. The blade was centered nicely, there was no play in the open position or closed. Lockup is a little early, but sufficient. The blade is rather thick, the tanto point itself is somewhat short but effective for piercing. The factory edge is plenty sharp, a bit toothy. The only gripe I really have is the pocket clip, it functions fine as a clip, but because of its size it has a hot spot when held in the hand. Overall very satisfied with the knife and service from knifecenter.
