Condor Tool & Knife

If you can handle the weight, an axe is one of those tools you'd trade many others for in a survival situation. It can perform all the duties of a good saw, large fixed blade, and a small survival knife. If sharpened correctly it can also feather a stick and create some extremely fine kindling. Condor's Greenland pattern axes are some of those that can do all this and more. They have an extremely nice feeling whether you're holding an inch away from the head or an inch away from the butt end - they're just very well balanced. Of course, they've got a hammer pommel on the other side of the axe for banging in tent pegs and a lanyard hole for an additional level of safety. Each one features the Condor classic finish for increased corrosion resistance, an American hickory wood handle, and handcrafted welted leather protective sheath.

good buy
I just received this ax and i am pleased. I was contemplating one of these spending Swedish axes, but saw this at knife Center. Condor makes good stuff at a fair price so I took a chance.I like the extra length handle it fits fine in my day pack. I tried the ax on an old dead apple tree, the damn thing might as well have been petrified. The ax cut well and stayed sharp. My only problem was the handle is very thick and can be hard to hold on. My hands are not by any measure small. Not a major problem. The handle grain is not perfect, but neither is the grain on those comparable very expensive Swedes. It is well made I would buy this ax again.

Best axe for the money
This is my go to axe when I need to chop wood up here in Alaska. I'm amazed by some of the reviews who complain about the "rustic" look or that it's not made in the USA; it's an AXE! They clearly didn't do any research and are unable to look at pictures before they purchase something. Condor has been around for a long time and is very highly regarded in the blade/axe industry. This axe is 1060 carbon steel (lightly oil it), takes a great edge and feels comfortable. Anyone with experience in axes knows you're not supposed to put a razors edge on them because if you hit a knot or obstruction (nail, etc.) you'll roll the edge. Axes have a sharp, wedge like edge and this one comes with a perfect grind. I've had mine for 4 years and put it through it's paces and it still looks and performs like the day I bought it. The only thing I've done is burnt and oiled the handle a bit to give it MORE of a rustic look. If you buy one you won't be disappointed. 1060 carbon steel is a fantastic steel for axes!

Great backwoods companion
I have recently purchased this hatchet and am very pleased with it. Great sheath, quality grain hickory handle, excellent weight and feel. It has been happily added to my hard-use bushcraft tools. Not the same quality as my wetterlings forest axe but still a fantastic tool. It has replaced an old steel with wood scale handle carpenter axe I was using. It was heavy and had an unintuitive feel. My forest axe was just a bit too long to be convenient on many of my adventures. The greenland pattern axe is a great buy
