A design collaboration between custom knifemaker Andrew Demko & Lynn C Thompson, the Ultimate Hunter represents the culmination of almost three years of design evolution. Exhaustively field tested on four continents - the Ultimate Hunter has proved its worth time and time again! Made from American S35VN stainless steel, the Ultimate Hunter is hand-ground to a razor edge that will last an amazingly long time. The heavily bead blasted, CNC machined G10 handles are comfortably smooth, while still giving a very secure, safe grip. Equipped with a super-strong Tri-Ad locking mechanism for extra safety, the Ultimate Hunter is a pure thoroughbred hunting/ outdoorsman's blade that also makes an excellent everyday carry knife - practical, functional and incredibly capable!
Pocket Clip
Includes a pocket clip for easy accessibility and a more secure carry.
G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.
Lockback
The lockback system has been used for many decades. It can usually be found on the knife spine and it provides a strong lockup that will wear well.
S35VN Stainless Steel
An evolution of the popular S30V steel, S35VN offers a greater degree of toughness without much sacrifice in edge retention. Perfect for mid-range and premium knives.
Cons: Ease of Opening, Lock Ease of Use, Pocket Clip
Nice knife, but you need both hands to use it.
Overall an excellent knife. Extremely sharp OOTB. Lockup is very solid. Very sturdy. The only drawback is this knife is not really operable with one hand. The pocket clip is so stiff getting the thing clipped in to your pocket or removed after it is clipped requires two hands. Not ideal. Opening the knife with one hand is possible, but not particularly quick or easy. Also a bit risky since there is spring tension pushing the blade closed, which could close on your finger if you are not careful. Closing it again requires two hands as well. A good hard working knife for sure, but you will always need two hands free to use it.
This is a folding hunting knife, plain and simple. it is stout, built to be able to hack and chop at joints and other tough stuff while still being a useful folder. It delivers quite well. A heavy-duty knife that has a lot of design pieces that are geared towards hunters and hunting. From small birds to large game, this'll do it all in a pinch. My single biggest complaint is about the lanyard hole. In a knife so obviously designed to use the lanyard, even in a temporary setting, it doesn't' chamfer the edges of the G-10, which is fairly sharp for something a rope or cordage would rubbing against relatively often. other than that, this is an overbuilt knife you can use for EDC, but it really is the Ultimate Hunting folder. very smooth and controllable action as well as very solid build-quality makes for something well worth the money. I have thought about getting a second one just to be sure I have it.
It’s the best folding hunter I could find but it needs some work. The blade is too thick at the edge to be a good slicer. Mine was .035” behind an 18 dps bevel. I put a secondary 7 or 8 dps bevel to where it is .018” behind the 18 dps primary bevel. Night and day difference in slicing. Also the spine is too “humpy” for actual hunting use. I like a drop point but it does way better separating joints and punching holes in hide when about half the hump is removed.
