Cold Steel

The Cold Steel SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) was built with one aim in mind, to produce the toughest multi-purpose survival tool in the industry. A knife you can truly trust with your life!

This practical and tactical fixed blade was immediately embraced by the Military and Special Forces community – and issued by the Navy SEALs for BUDS training - who appreciated the SRK's versatility and durability in even the worst conditions.

This classic design is now available with SK-5 high carbon steel. It is the Japanese equivalent of American 1080, a high carbon steel with carbon between 0.75%-0.85% and 0.60%-0.90% manganese. As quenched, it has a hardness near HRC 65 and produces a mixture of carbon rich martensite with some small undissolved carbides. The excess carbide increases abrasion resistance and allows the steel to achieve an ideal balance of very good blade toughness with superior edge holding ability.

Great knife for the price. Amazing handle.

Great blade design and length for a variety of bushcrafting and outdoor activities. The Kray-Ex handle is extremely comfortable and grippy even in wet conditions. Nice secure "polymer type" sheath. I haven't put the blade through its paces yet, but it will serve it's purpose just well. I wish there was a happy medium between the VG-10 and SK-5 steel, like D2. I'm also not a fan of coated blades for outdoor duties, but it's really a great knife and hard to beat for the price.

Knife feels very solid. The sheath locks the blade in solidly. Somewhat forward heavy. The blade came sharp but the grind is not even on both side.
