This practical and tactical fixed blade was immediately embraced by the Military and Special Forces community – and issued by the Navy SEALs for BUDS training - who appreciated the SRK's versatility and durability in even the worst conditions.
This classic design is now available with SK-5 high carbon steel. It is the Japanese equivalent of American 1080, a high carbon steel with carbon between 0.75%-0.85% and 0.60%-0.90% manganese. As quenched, it has a hardness near Rc 65 and produces a mixture of carbon rich martensite with some small undissolved carbides. The excess carbide increases abrasion resistance and allows the steel to achieve an ideal balance of very good blade toughness with superior edge holding ability.

excellent all around knife
This is an all around good survival/camping/ dive knife, nice thickness, strong, good grip, and very good price for the quality. The sheath also has nice fit and mounting features.

Very appealing knife
This knife feels fantastic in the hand. I haven't put it any formal stress tests as yet, but it has a very comfortable grip coupled with what seems to be a very resilient black coating over the blade. The edge on mine was extremely sharp on arrival. Liking this knife very much. The one thing I'd like to see is changing the guard protrusions to a metal alloy. I tend not to have that much confidence in a plastic guard protecting the user's fingers not much more than a small amount.
