HO24177: X1-Microflip Folding Knife, Flat Dark Earth
The Microflip features Hogue's robust button lock mechanism along with their patent-pending blade retention device. This unique instrument retains the blade in the closed position allowing the user to create stored up kinetic energy culminating in the firing of the blade. With an intuitive press of the lock button, the knife can be easily closed with one-hand without placing fingers in the path of the closing blade like standard liner lock flippers. This knife contains no springs. It is a manual flipper yet acts surprisingly like an automatic.

Designed specifically as an everyday carry pocket knife, the X1-Microflip is the first knife in the Hogue line with a blade measuring under three inches. The 2.75" drop point blade profile comes with a stonewash tumbled or with a black Cerakote finish. Made from 0.120" thick CPM-154 steel, the blade offers superior corrosion resistance while providing excellent edge retention. It is cryogenically heat treated to 57-59HRC then hand sharpened and honed.

The Type III hard coat anodized 6061-T6 aluminum frame is sculpted for an ergonomic grasp and comfortable one-handed deployment. The frame is patterned with an escalating indent texture for additional grip traction and includes a pointed impact pommel. Models are available in matte finished black, gray, flat dark earth or aquamarine. The frame includes a reversible clip and filler plate for ambidextrous tip up carrying.

All Hogue Knives are designed by former Recon Marine Allen Elishewitz and made in the USA by Hogue, Inc.

First and last time with Hogue
This was my first experience with Hogue. I have about a half dozen Benchmade knives and their customer service is about on par with Amazon, "whatever it takes to make you happy"I wanted a non-assisted knife that was a flipper and something I could open and close with one hand. I ended up buying two of the X1's, one gray and one FDE. They are amazing knives and easy to operate with a little practice. The two problems that caused me to give it a 3 rating are that both of then came out of the box fairly sharp but not what I expected for a knife in this price range and I had to spend quite a bit of time on both of them to get them sharp. The deal breaker and the reason that I will not buy from Hogue again is that I like deep carry pocket clips and I emailed and then called Hogue to buy two of the spacers that they use on the side of the knife opposite the clip because the clips that I used (titanium deep carry for a ZT 0450 with a slight Dremel mounting hole spacing mod) sit on the surface of the knife and I needed the spacers. They flat out refused to sell me the spacers with no reason and told me that whoever I was getting the pocket clips from should supply them and threatened to void the warranty if I changed them even though there was no disassembly necessary. I made my own spacers which are not visible under the pocket clip mounting tabs and the knives look great and carry the way that I want them to and still work perfect and I could care less about the warranty

Now THIS is a Knife!
I often need a knife at work, and the law says it can't exceed 3". I open lots of boxes and cut lots of wrapping and straps. I have a few Kershaws and a lot of other knives, I love them but the Leek is the only one I can bring. The blade lock is annoying, otherwise it is a terriffic knife, I even managed to cut the side of my thumb off with it once.I saw an ad for the X1, and from experience with a SIG/Hogue knife I have, I decided to order one. Most of my knives are black or silver, so I decided to order the FDE version.I have whined about the packaging of other knives, but this time I was pleasantly surprised, you get an instruction leaflet, a Hogue sticker, and a case for the knife! yeah the box is cheesy but what isn't these days. The case is zippered with a loop and generous padding. Now the X1 - I love it. Haven't been this happy since I got an EK Fighting Knife for Desert Storm. This little guy is perfect for flying under the radar on length, with enough military feel to bring a smile. Great grip albeit aluminum, terriffic serrations on the top side so your hand won't slip, and the flipper comes out far enough to stop on the other side. I was not able to pull out the blade without using the flipper, and the blade comes out with almost as much force as the Leek. The lock button pops into place nicely, and holds the blade solid. No liner lock, you push the button to retun the blade to safe. This is as colse to perfection as a knife can get, and is well worth the price. The FDE is more expensive, but I like the Cerakoted blade. WIN!
