CIVIVI Knives

The Sentinel Strike is based on the award-winning WE Knives Ziffius design and comes in at a price point that won't cause you to hesitate before making that questionable cut. Its aluminum frame is inlaid with an integral piece of textured FRN that could also be referred to as a backspacer of sorts. The reverse tanto blade is Bohler K110 (D2) tool steel and at 3.7" there isn't much it can't tackle with ease. If you already have an Elementum and are looking for a tactical blade or just that next homerun EDC, this is it!

Review Update
I've now been carrying this Sentinel Strike for six months. It lives in my sweat pants pocket all day, every day, alongside my sentiment-loaded Spyderco Manix 2 with custom scales from my oldest friend. It's hard to admit, but this Civivi has won first place in my daily life. I love its flipper action. I love its button lock. I love its blade shape, and its ability to take a razor edge. I love the way it cuts.I'm not very hard on my knives, so I can't speak to its edge retention but -- wow. I really love using this knife.My one and only complaint is the handle finish's durability. This knife lives in my sweat pants pocket. It's "abraded" by soft cloth and nothing else, but the finish is wearing at the peaks of curves and other places that amplify the contact pressure. Totally cosmetic, but worth mentioning for those to whom these things matter. I keep trying to justify buying a second one, but haven't figured out what I'd do with it. They deserve more than being stuffed in a case with a collection.

A New Favorite
I have more pocket knives than I can count.For years, my absolute favorite EDC has been a Spyderco Manix 2 with custom scales that were a gift from my oldest friend, who is no longer with us. On top of being a great knife, it has deep sentimental value.This CIVIVI Sentinel Strike has become a serious contender for favorite, so much so that I now carry both it and the Manix 2 in my pocket around the house. I've tried the very similar Kershaw Ken Onion Leek. To be blunt, I hate it. I finally figured out that the safety lock, which is there to protect you from accidental opening, is just annoying. Want to use the Leek? You have to remember to unlock it first. Oh, yeah.I also tried the Spyderco Kevin Smock, a very similar design which also has a button lock. Not bad, the Spyderco, but not as smooth or as nice in the hand as the CIVIVI Sentinel Strike. That surprised me. I usually like Spyderco knives the best. But this CIVIVI -- wow. It's smooth, it's razor sharp, it's switchblade fast. It has a great finger choil. I've read some reviews that said "get rid of the button lock." That may be purely a matter of taste. I happen to like the button lock very much. It's quick and handy and easy to operate.I'm not all that hard on my knives, so I can't speak to the durability of the blade steel. It's been fine for what I do, which is mostly cutting boxes and packaging. I'd give this knife 12 stars out of 10.
