LNM7B: M7B Black Multi-Purpose Field Knife

LionSteel

M7 is the next LionSteel fixed blade knife to come through our doors and this tactical/camping fixed blade is a beast! LionSteel's goal was to build a good multi-purpose field knife. Therefore, they decided to use an old project developed a few years ago with Molletta - the Carthago was produced initially as a limited edition and with the necessary modifications they have recently put it into production. The 7.09" blade is an intimidating piece of steel when unsheathed and it really is a piece of edged art. The handle is extremely well done, locks the knife into your hand perfectly, and is very comfortable to use for an extended period of time. Knife comes with a friction fit Kydex sheath with a cordura backing.

Michele Pensato - aka ‘molletta’, his nickname in Italian – is a very active designer with years of experience. His previous life as an excursion lover and a passion for archaeology had him spending most of his experiences in the great outdoors, where he soon got to understand how a great knife should really be and what it should be capable of achieving. He led the Nexus production group and the group that was created at the MCKF Forum. A keen student of the steel industry, he stands out for his new approach to the use of materials and experimentation in thermal treatment applications.

An advanced user of design software such as Catià, Solidworks, Inventor, he applies FEA to design and aims to create yet more solid and innovative products.

Nice all around field tool.
This knife is big enough to baton wood for campfires, sharp enough to make projects and cutting rope easy, and durable enough to hold up to rugged use. It has proved to be extremely reliable, and if worse came to worse it is well balanced and large enough to make a good self defense weapon. I am very pleased with this knife, and that’s saying something because I generally view a knife this large as clunky. Not so, this knife is balanced, dependable, sharp, and durable. Very well made.

Purchased the M7 for a heavy duty camp and trail knife. Found the knife to have great fit and finish. great balance. Came fairly sharp, Once used, and then resharpened, became scary sharp. Took it on a short hour long hike with my dog on our ranch and chopped and hacked dry and green cedar, made a walking stick out of cedar, chopped dry oak limbs, cut prickly pear and hay string. Edge would still shave arm hair at end. Washed it off and finish had held up well. Resharpened on TriAngle Sharpmaker, to paper shaving, paper towel swiping sharpness. Only thing I have done is slightly radius the edges of the steel around the lanyard hole in butt. When choking back to chop, the steel edges are a little sharp. Didnt rub blister, but got hot. Overall, a very good knife, holds an edge well, sharpens easily. Looks good. Sheath is good for possible military app's, but for my use I like sheath that carries knife high and tight, with no strap.

bought the Lionsteel m7 for a heavy duty camp and trail knife. I took it on a short hour long hike with my dog, and cut green and dry cedar limbs, made a walking stick out of green cedar, Used the point to create a 1' deep hole in a piece of dry oak. chopped a 2x4 in two. Cut down several small 1 inch cedar trees. The knife would still shave hair when I got home. Handle is very secure, but I will radius the edges of the tang near the lanyard hole. slight irritation after many snap cuts. Wide full length spine works well for batoning. I split pieces of 2x4 easily. Choking up into the choil allows very good control making feather sticks. Hit it a time or two on a Triangle Sharpmaker and thin paper was easily shredded. Great heavy duty knife, without too much weight.
