MAM Filmam

Established in 1870, the Filmam Manufactory in Palaculo, Portugal, has excelled in manufacturing variations of essential tools, while offering an outstanding price-performance ratio. The simple design developed for agricultural work, has evolved over many generations in function and form. The stainless steel used in these tools come from Germany and is specially treated using a traditional method of high quality temper with more than 56 degrees of hardness. This impressive satin finished steel has molybdenum vanadium silicium and carbon. With the right precision, these components make the stainless steel very durable, rust resistant, flexible and easy to use. The handles are crafted from a fine French beechwood, and are treated with a special polish that provides added resistance and durability. The nature of beechwood, very light yet very strong, makes it a popular choice for pocket knives and provides a smooth and comfortable grip.

Restaurant knife!
I bought this specifically to use as a food knife at home and at restaurants. I gave it a 4 because it didn’t come very sharp and the pivot was too loose for my liking. After some light taps with a hammer the pivot is great now and the steel sharpens easily and takes a sharp edge. I also modified mine by slightly reducing the size of the liner lock tab and by sanding through the brown stain and the logo impression on the wooden handle. Now it’s a lighter color and very clean/smooth. Perfect for the plate.
