The Hero was designed by Tommaso Rumici, and was made out of Maniago, Italy. "Produced in Maniago, Italy" is the theme of the entire enterprise for MKM, which is aptly named. This 'brand' is a collection of four of the top knife manufacturers in Italy working together to consolidate and strengthen their commercial contributions to foreign markets. 

They've chosen to work with some highly regarded and sought-after American custom makers to launch the brand and they've already made quite a splash. MKM won Knife Collaboration of the Year with Lucas Burnley and Bob Terzuola at the 2018 BLADE Show, while Viper took home Overall Knife of the Year with the SURU and LionSteel won the Manufacturing Quality Award for the third time in five years. A spectacular start, and one that confirms and fuels the mission of the Maniago Knife Makers consortium and the MKM brand: consolidating the value and style of Made in Maniago, by working together as a team.

The Hero is Tommaso Rumici's first project with MKM and brings his eye for the combination of everyday and tactical use to bring you the perfect all-rounder. This full size pocket knife is comes with a wide drop point blade made from M390 stainless steel, a favorite of knifemakers for high-end knives. The blade is easy to open with the dual thumb studs an is secured with a very sturdy lockback mechanism that engages with a satisfying snap. Rumici's focus for this knife is on the design of the handle and the importance of ergonomics. The handle has a large recess in it that perfect sits the first three fingers of the hand while the pinky rests on the wider portion at the bottom. This allows you to make minute adjustments to the angle of the cut with just a wiggle of your pinky finger. The handle is available in several materials including G10 (this model), Micarta, and a marbled carbon fiber. The knife is truly ambidextrous thanks to the dual thumb studs, lockback mechanism, and reversible deep carry clip that makes the knife disappear into your pocket.
