The Maximo was designed by Bob Terzuola, the godfather of tactical knives. "Produced in Maniago, Italy" is the theme of the entire enterprise for MKM, which is aptly named. This 'brand' is a collection of four of the top knife manufacturers in Italy working together to consolidate and strengthen their commercial contributions to foreign markets.
They've chosen to work with some highly regarded and sought-after American custom makers to launch the brand and they've already made quite a splash. MKM won Knife Collaboration of the Year with Lucas Burnley and Bob Terzuola at the 2018 BLADE Show, while Viper took home Overall Knife of the Year with the SURU and LionSteel won the Manufacturing Quality Award for the third time in five years. A spectacular start, and one that confirms and fuels the mission of the Maniago Knife Makers consortium and the MKM brand: consolidating the value and style of Made in Maniago, by working together as a team.
The Maximo is a dutiful EDC knife that would also make a perfect backup tactical tool to have by your side. It was designed by the man, the myth, the legend who coined the term "tactical knife", yet its size makes it more suited for utility tasks than straight tactical ones in our minds. It's got a beautiful Terzuola-style drop point blade with swedge and dual thumb stud opening in addition to the flipper tab. The knife is available with a number of different handle material combinations and each has a sideways frag pattern leading to a faux bolster to improve the grip. The flipping action is crisp, the ergonomics are on point, and there's a glass-breaker on the butt end so even rescue knife isn't out of the realm of possibilities. The only question is, which material do you choose?

Developed by Chris Reeve, it functions like a liner lock but the lock is comprised of one of the handle scales. It's an extremely strong and easy to manipulate lock.

Don't listen to the YouTubers, this is an excellent knife
Ignore the YouTube reviews of this knife. They will complain about the flipper and lock, then find every other perceived flaw to hate on this knife. I was fortunate to purchase this knife at a heavily discounted price after wanting one for a long time. The flipping action on mine is fine, no issues. I will concede that the scale could have been cut back slightly more for better access to the lock, but this isn't a fidget knife, it's a tactical knife. The green and black stonewash look great together. Like most of the Italian folders, it's stout and well made. The handle feels great in hand and the blade shape is perfect for it's intended use.
