I really like my Marttini’s, shaken; not stirred (I have no idea what I’m talkin’ about). Seriously though, I’ve used their fillet knives for 30 plus years. They just work. Also, have a Lynx (I forget the model). What a beautiful high functioning knife! This Condor Timberjack seems like another Marttiini winner (They don’t even have condors in Finland, ??? but I’m pretty sure they have timber jacks) . >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I went on Marttiini’s web site and read that the carbon steel they use has 0.75% carbon, and 3% chromium. That makes this like 1075 tool steel, with a touch of chromium for added hardness. I imagine the chromium makes the steel perform somewhat like 5160, but that’s just a guess. Anyway, it takes an edge well (easily field sharpen-able), and will hold a fine edge, as well. Nice compound scandi grind makes it a cinch for bushcrafting/wood working. But, like the Lapps (Sami people) and Finns have known for centuries, this is a great hunting knife. The handle is superb: comfortable, secure, and grippy as teenage love birds in the back seat at a Drive-in picture show. Really nice piece-o-crap plastic sheath. It works fine, and I have no plans to re-sheath it. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Not the, “one knife,” you are going to take out in the wilderness as your survival knife, r/t the hidden tang/risk of failure. But, a great knife for camping, hunting, hiking, whittling, bushcraft, camp kitchen, picnicking, RV-ing, and everyday utility. Not the knife for batoning wood, but it’ll sure carve you a nice wooden splitting wedge in short order. With a 3 year guarantee, beat it early and often. Like Marty G (below), I too, use my Marttiini Lynx for meat prep in the kitchen. You’ll find it excellent in the kitchen, although, the scandi grind will probably send carrot chunks flying across the room. Velcro one to the dashboard of the truck for a, “handy knife.” Heck, at this price, Velcro one to the wife’s side of the truck, too, and you can have knife fights while you’re stuck in rush hour traffic. Bring some excitement and color back into your marriage. Soak some 12 gauge patches in your favorite knife oil, and put in a zip-lock bag to wipe down the blade after use, and this Timberjack will provide many years of good service. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I bought several of these to give as gifts, and even gifted one to myself.
