Old-school value
I've used carbon-steel knives all my life and cooked many a fine meal with them. I can only pile on with the other knowledgeable folks: All knives get dull. You have to arrange to resharpen them. All knives. At any price. Many knives, even "stainless," will rust. You can't leave them lying around in the sink wet. Very few handles will withstand going through a dishwasher. I dry my knives and put them away. They developed a protective grayish patina decades ago and I've never seen a spot of rust. Meet these Old Hickories halfway and they'll give you a lifetime of service. They're dead easy to sharpen to a razor edge. Do you leave the lawnmower in the rain? No? Then don't leave your knives in the sink. Dry them off and put them away. Get a honing rod for touchup and sharpen them properly when they get dull. Nobody's asking you for a kidney. Just take care of them and they'll take care of you. Sorry to rant but it's not the knife's fault.

Junk Alert!
The first time I used this knife, the (partial) tang came loose in the handle. OKC makes some nice stuff, but this isn't nice at all.
