Simple Excellence
Like my Old Hickory hunting knife, this slicing knife is an extraordinary value. Very sharp as delivered, with a little effort on my Ken Onion sharpener - holey moley. With the BBQ season fast approaching, cannot wait to begin using this slicer for prep and the serving of brisket, ribs, and veggies. ALSO - with this knife be certain to purchase a Victorinox Blade Safe - another minor investment with a major return.

Classic quality
I have three different old hickory that are pretty old and still work great and will last for years to come. You have to clean and care for them because they will rust, but it takes so little to keep them in fighting shape.

high-value workhorse
I bought not this brand but an essentially identical product off a supermarket rack decades ago and still use it most days. It will sharpen to a razor edge and with occasional honing it'll stay that way for quite some time. I've never oiled mine, just washed and dried it after use, and it's still in great shape. Like any knife, it's not perfect for every task, and it's not a beauty. But if you want to spend the least on a knife that will cut well for decades, go for it.
