QSPQS141C2: QSP Canary Neck Knife, Black Stonewashed, Green Micarta

QSP Knives

The QSP Canary is a handy little neck knife that is designed to be available to you at a moment's notice, whether for defense or just around the campsite. The black stonewashed 14C28N stainless steel blade has the perfect amount of belly and is great for slicing or chopping despite its smaller size. The handles have pronounced holes that reduce overall weight while the green Micarta handles provides a steady grip, even in wet conditions. The Kydex sheath holds the knife securely while dangling from a neck chain. The spine jimping allows your thumb to lock in in multiple carry positions, helping to cement this as one of QSP best fixed blades.

Pros: Finish, Handle Material, Overall Quality, Sheath/Scabbard
Cons: None
a 2-1/2 finger knife = limited use
The handle is a little too short, even for a neck knife. I don't have big hands, but this is still only a 2-1/2 finger grip, and that really limits its usefulness. It desperately needs another 1/4" or more to provide more grip. I have five 'neck' knives that I use as EDC's, carried in Kydex sheaths horizontally on my belt. All the others are more useful because they're either a half-inch longer or they have distinctly pronounced finger grooves (CRKT Minimalists). This one is difficult to solidly grip for any kind of real use. Also, it's very slim side-to-side, which doesn't help the grip situation. Otherwise, I love the look. I love the green micarta/black blade coloring. The shape is just like an offspring of the full sized fixed blade QSP Canary. I really WANT to love this knife, but it just feels too precarious when I use it for moderate use. Light use is OK.
