RCBRKR1B: Zancudo Frame Lock Folder, Black

BRK Designed by ESEE

Zancudo is Spanish for Mosquito but besides its compacts size, we cannot think of another similarity between this knife and the buzzing pest. The Zancudo was designed by the survival experts over at ESEE Knives, Mike Perrin and Jeff Randall, and was produced by Blue Ridge Knives. It's an amazingly slim, well-built folder that you won't have a problem carrying and using every day. The frame lock mechanism and FRN handle, with the solid, full-length steel liners, provide serious strength to this small folder. The pocket clip is reversible but only set up for right-hand carry and the knife weighs in at exactly three ounces. It's a folder we're very excited about here at the KnifeCenter because it gets almost everything right in a folding knife at a price point you're sure to be pleased with.

Pros: Weight, Pocket Clip, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Lock Ease of Use
Feels GREAT in the hand
Ordered this because of a review of another knife which mentioned the Zancudo in comparison. It does flick open nicely but takes some practice to deploy it quickly as it's ball detent holds the blade closed very tightly. I'm hoping it will ease up a little with time, unlocking the blade also takes some practice. Reminds me of the old Benchmade 350 where the lock needs to be undone by a fingernail. Other than these gripes it came shaving sharp outa the box and has a VERY ergonomic handle, like it was made for my Large glove-sized hands. The blade style also very good. I heard the blade coating does wear/flake off after extreme use but I think that gives it character, it's not the same coating as on the fixed ESEE knives. It feels like just one of those knives that you could use all day and not get hand-fatigue or blisters/hotspots. I moved the clip for a tip-up carry and it doesn't appear to get in the way of holding it comfortably either. Excellent and very economic EDC for anyone's collection.
