Description

RCJG5: Camp-Lore James Gibson JG5

ESEE Knives

Combining historically inspired blade designs with ESEE's bombproof build quality, the ESEE Camp-Lore series expanded in 2018 to include the JG5. Designed by James Gibson, the "Nessmuk" influence is clearly evident. The shape is an interpretation of the knife sketched by 19th-century adventurer/author George Washington Sears (pen-name, Nessmuk) in his book Woodcraft and Camping. Reimagined as a modern-day bushcraft knife, the broad blade is constructed of 1095 carbon steel with a tumbled black oxide finish. The shape lends itself well to skinning and butchering and is sure to satisfy the traditionalists with its full flat grind.

Brown scalloped Micarta scales are bolted to the full tang knife, providing incredible traction. The three bolts are user-removable, making the JG5 an ideal platform for user modification by adding liners for more thickness or creating custom scales from scratch. An integrated lanyard hole adds even more options for customization.

A sturdy leather is included, dyed brown for a traditional look and feel. The JG5 is backed up by ESEE's No-Questions-Asked Lifetime Warranty, so you needn't hesitate to use this knife hard!

CAMP-LORE

The Camp-Lore series was developed to answer the demand for traditional, basic, bushcraft knives. The designers of this knife series come from unique backgrounds and experiences, with each considered to be one of the best in their field. All of the Camp-Lore knives are simple, traditional, fixed blade designs that have been field-proven for years. Each Camp-Lore knife comes with a USA-made traditional pouch sheath using leather supplied by one of the oldest tanneries in North America.

Now I Know Why...'Nuff Said About That! Got one...!
When KnifeCenter finally gets these in stock, run, do not walk, to grab one! There will be a long line, but well worth the wait! While I am no longer an active camper, I know what works, and this is IT! Esee's design and QC are flawlessly exhibited in this 'Nessy'! Only potential con is its ability to stand up to batoning and chopping, but you active campers already know that! (And have knives to meet that need...!) Highly recommended!

Fantastic Knife for Out in the Bush
I've had this knife for a little while now and I have to say I'm very impressed. Ergonomics are awesome, and the blade just straight up works! I'm very glad that ESEE kept the blade itself pretty thin as it actually aids in preforming the vast majority of bush related tasks you'll be performing with a knife. It excels at everything I've put it to work on: making friction fire sets, creating and notching deadfalls, feather sticks, processing small wood, etc. This is the knife I now take into the bush with me. Esee always does good work, but they outdid themselves with this one!

An LT Wright Competitor
So I knew when this blade was first announced an released I was going to get one. However what I did not realize till using it how quickly this knife would become one of my favorite bush knives. This thing came hair shaving sharp and came almost like a custom knife in its fit and finish. I would highly advise this blade for Bush, camp, hunting or general use. I am currently the only person on YouTube that has a real actual use review.
