Shirogorov Knives

Shirogorov Knives is the company that put Russia on the map of knife collectors worldwide. They are known for their impeccable, lightning-fast action and clean designs. In just over 10 years they went from making knives in their garage to winning the Best Tactical Folder award at BLADE Show, maybe THE most prestigious in our industry. The company is obsessed with quality, and this dedication is reflected in every piece that comes out of their workshop in Yaroslavl.

The original Quantum model has been released in 2019, and Quantum Gen 2 was made available in 2021. Now, Shirogorov Knives are offering a more budget-friendly version of one of their premiere and immediately recognizable folders.

This knife is meant to be a workhorse. Compared to Quantum Gen 1, the blade has been slimmed down to 0.134" in thickness and no longer has a fuller, which makes it more practical and easier to clean. The slight upsweep of the blade transitions into a very ergonomic handle, which has orange G10 inlays. The Quantum Ursus NL also features a Cromax PM stainless blade, a lockbar insert, a sculpted and milled pocket clip, and a lanyard hole on the presentation scale.

Not super impressed.
Upon first opening this knife the detent was super stiff, almost too hard to overcome with the flipper tab. This was painfully magnified by the reduced size of the flipper tab.After 5 minutes of flipping open, it became painful to open the knife. Let me explain, the flipper tab, is chamfered if you will on left/right side thus reducing the area or bringing the tab to point. On top of this the jimping on the face of the tab. This combined with a super stiff dentent = index finger pain, not cool.Also this is one those knives where you must always make sure you're not holding on the lock bar with your finger tips or it adds to difficulty in flipping open. Fingers must rest on the pocket clip to get a good flip open.I'm still on the fence about the 3 tiny pin size standoffs located at the tail end of the knife. It's kinda weird but might be innovative? For the price, this knife should have no negative attributes in my mind. This is a 3.5 outa 5, in my opinion.
