The Para 3 takes all the proven features and benefits of Spyderco's best-selling Paramilitary 2 and distills them into an even more compact all-purpose cutting tool. Its three-inch blade is precision machined from premium CPM-15V tool steel and features a full-flat grind for a superior balance of strength, point utility, and low-friction cutting performance. It includes a textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp that provide a solid purchase for a forward grip and offers enhanced control during precise cutting tasks. The blade's signature Trademark Round Hole clearly brands it as a member of the Spyderco family and is fully accessible to allow quick, positive, one-handed opening with either hand.

The defining feature of the Para 3 Lightweight is its handle construction, which incorporates lightweight scales injection molded from tough fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). In addition to being more economical than scales machined from solid G10, the FRN scales also allow the precision molding of Spyderco's non-slip Bi-Directional Texture pattern on the outside surfaces of the scales and intricate structural details on the interiors.

Instead of the large nested liners used in the G10 Para 3, the Lightweight's streamlined design includes a minimalist liner on one side of the blade's pivot and a separate stainless steel lockbar. Both are firmly nested into molded cavities in the scales, which also include molded-in threaded inserts that anchor key assembly screws.

This limited-edition Sprint Run expression of the Para 3 showcases a blade crafted from Crucible Industries' state-of-the-art CPM-15V particle metallurgy tool steel. With almost 15 percent vanadium in its alloy mix, this remarkable material offers the highest wear resistance of any cold-work tool steel currently available. To maximize its potential, the full-flat-ground, stonewashed blade of this knife is further enhanced by a specialized heat-treating protocol developed by acclaimed custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. In keeping with the signature theme of the CPM-15V Sprint Runs, the handle of this Para 3 features distinctive brown FRN scales and the reverse side of the blade is proudly laser engraved with Shawn Houston's "Big Brown Bear" logo. All other elements of this elite knife are consistent with the proven Para 3 platform.
