SPBY04GP2: BY04GP2 Meadowlark 2 G10

byrd Knife Designed by Spyderco

Upgrade alert! byrd knives are the subject of a number of engineering refinements for 2010 with improved ergonomics, four-way clips and full-flat ground blades. Like Spyderco knives, byrd knives are subject to our penchant for C.Q.I. - Constant Quality Improvement. As manufacturing processes and material availability improves, so do the byrds.

The newest evolution of the Meadowlark is the Meadowlark2 with a G-10 handle. It has a full-flat ground high performance 8Cr13MoV blade. Shaped like a "comet" the hole in the blade symbolizes quality and careful manufacturing tolerances. On the blade’s spine is a group of crosshatching called jimping. Jimping enhances the thumb’s grip on top of the blade making cutting slip-resistant. Available for the first time with a four-way clip that carries tip-up/tip down or left/right-handed, it attaches inside a pant’s pocket where it rides deep and confidently. A finger choil enhances the ergonomic G-10 handle adding comfort and control. Mid-positioned lockback has a David Boye cut away dent, a safety feature allowing the handle to be tightly gripped without unintentionally releasing the lock.

I carry this knife daily since it arrived
Great size for daily carry. Arrived razor sharp. Fit and finish excellent. I have the larger cara cara 2 in edc bag and this smaller version for pocket carry. Love the back lock vs liner lock.

Worthy Of The Spyderco Name
This is an excellent knife! The G-10 scales are attractive and comfortable, the blade was razor sharp out of the box. There is a lot of strength for the money and I have confidently used this knife in hard use survival scenarios without any failures. 8Cr steel is excellent and easy to maintain.. This knife will last you a lifetime.

Good faithful knife!
When I look 1st time to Byrd knives, was because my pocket was a bit empty for a Spyderco. I have a Manix2 and a Tenacious, but want a small knife and its rich brother Delica was expensive for me. When I received it and unpack, was like to see a stray dog looking at me and saying: "Trust me! I will serve you better than any other!". I start to put it in my shape, invert the clip for tip up left side, sharpen it better than came (good but not razor), and tie a paracord lanyard to it. The result is a happy knife and a happy owner. As knife fighting instructor, I can recommend it as a defensive tool, because it is strong and lightweight, it have a good steel easy to sharpen, and the ergonomics is flawless! Now it take home inside my pocket and bypass the beefy Manix2. My stray dog have served me many times! I am more than happy and ordered his big brother Cara-Cara!5 stars knife!
