Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Pocket Clip, Blade Material
Cons: Handle Material
I'm skeptical
I WAS an owner of an early version with the same design ques, but not anymore! I'm a firefighter and was amazed with all of these cool and very practical design features; the belt cutter blade, flat head tip, and especially the very cool "don't drive ur hand into a cars window when u break it and cut yourself" spring loaded quick release punch! The only problem was the handles material..... I had owned the knife for about a year and it had stayed in my bunker bottom pants most of the time with the occasional use on a patient a vehicle extrication, but in time design flaws in the handle and previous design showed. The older versions rear then the most disconcerting of all the handle fractured at the spring release from using the punch as designed..... What a bummer! After that the knife handle had lost most do it's regitity and was all but useless! Contacted Smith&wesson with some hassle and they eventually tossed another knife at mestate less practical rescue features and not the refund or replacement of the same knife! That being said I'm gonna stay skeptical but give this one a second chance, it looks like the replaced the spring release are for the punch with metal to correct this flaw and redlined the blade to be more of a hook knife design which is safer and more efficient in seat belt cutting, but I see the majority of the handle is still the same material........ I'm gonna cross my fingers on this one and go for it one more time because the design features are really that cool! So Smith&wesson please don't fail me again..... I'm really hoping your knife can take the "heat" of a firefighters important and demanding job. We need good practical equipment designs like this, but the durability has got to be there too!

I have it laying in my car, for the time I'll be first on site for an accident and will be needing a safe way to break glass and cut safetybelts. The only downsides with this tool is the pocketclip which is a tad too stiff if you'd ever have to carry the tool with you, and that the glassbreaker's safetycatch doesn't lock in place unless you actually have the spring a little loaded. I'd like to have a better lock for the safetycatch when the spring is without load.
