TOPS Knives

TOPS Knives D.A.R.T. (Direct Action Rescue Team) is a heavy tactical fixed blade measuring 12-3/4" overall. It features a 7" black traction coated 5160 carbon steel full tang blade and black linen micarta handles which are removable with a lanyard loop. Comes with a black lined heavy cordura belt sheath with leg tie. Designed by Trace Rinaldi.

Wish I would have got a Dart sooner !
I sure wish I would have got one of these Tops Darts earlier, it would have saved me from buying many other knives!.. I own many knives, some I use way more than others. Over the years, I have bought some that are not that good. This Dart is one hell of a great knife ! The black traction coating, and the sheath, I don’t like, but all of the other makings of this Dart, the dimensions, shape, strength, handle, every part of the knife itself, are the best they can be! Buy one of these before you buy any other knife, you’ll be thankful you did ! And you’ll save a lot of money! I promise!

5160 steel works when others crack
I wanted a one knife to do everything and replace many tools in hiking and backpacking. While it's pretty heavy and probably will not suit weight-oriented hikers, you need to take its many uses into consideration. It's a thick and big knife, so I also use it as a shovel, axe, climbing nut, pole, and many other things. It can carve a small stick and it can chop down a tree or crack a rock or split a log. You can pry with it without any fear - 5160 is not the sharpest steel, but it wont crack and leave you with a useless $200 worth of metal on the trail. This knife is dependable.Now the biggest con is the sheath, but you can DIY PVC pipe sheath easily, so not a big problem. The other small con is finish - it scratches easily and quite soon the knife becomes grayish. I would prefer matte steel or no finish at all.

Skinning big game animals.
I consider this knife to be one of my most useful tools in the field from skinning big game animals to clearing brush the DART does it all and holds an edge for the season!
