This Knife is a Delightful Surprise
I bought this knife because I thought it would be a great 'stealth knife' to carry in my car instead of the more tactical looking knives I own. With its cheap and cheerful blue plastic handle and smallish under 3 inch blade, this knife looks pretty harmless. I was also intrigued by the Switch-Lok safety lock, which turns this slipjoint knife into a fixed blade. Upon receiving it, I found pulling the blade out of the handle quite stiff and I almost cut my fingers pulling it out, because the blade released quite suddenly. I opened and closed the knife a dozen times so it wasn't so stiff to pull the blade out of the handle. The area to pull out the blade is quite small and I wish the area to pull out the blade was a bit larger. I tested the D2 blade via the paper cutting test and its actually one of the sharpest D2 knives I own (I own about 40 D2 bladed knives). I was quite surprised and very pleased by the sharpness of this blade. I also enjoy the Switch-Lok Safety Lock which very easy to use with a press and click and the lock looks more like a pivot screw instead of a lock. Once the lock was engaged, the knife was very stiff and there was absolutely no side rocking to the blade in the locked position. All in all, I am quite pleased with this knife. This is certainly also a two handed knife to open and close and you have to be careful pulling it out because of the blade stiffness in the handle, which again is tight. The pull on this slipjoint is about a 6.5, which doesn't seem like its would be so stiff but pulling the blade, there is a sudden release instead of the blade from the closed position instead of smooth gradual release, which is why I am giving this knife a 4 out of 5. I think this knife would be great for camping, knocking about, or carrying it your bag or pocket. I also liked that this blade didn't have a pocket clip. I also loved the huge lanyard hole, which would be very easy to attach a paracord or small clip onto.
