Case Knives

The RW 100 Hunter and RW Caper were co‑designed by Roland Welker as a celebration of his personal victories over decades of surviving in some of Mother Nature's most extreme outdoor conditions. The RW 100 Hunter's 6.25” modified Tanto blade and the RW Caper's modified spear-point blade offer full-tang construction and are made from 1095 carbon steel with a stonewash finish and jimping along the spine for extra control whenever you need it. The knives' Micarta handles offer superior durability, scratch resistance, and a softer feel in hand. The Hunter's pommel provides a striking tool, while the integrated lanyard hole offers a way to carry paracord, leather strapping, and more. From building shelter and processing big game to making tinder and cubing steaks by the fire, these heavy-duty reliable fixed blade knives can do it all... just like Roland. REALLY!?!
I own this knife and The caper . The caper is a awesome little knife I have no issues with it all . The RW 100 on the other hand, I can’t believe the same guy design both of the knives. The sheath is the most horrible sheath I’ve ever seen or used ( which I replaced) on any knife it’s like having a 2x4 on your side it’s big and blocky and doesn’t move with you . The knife itself is so much smaller than the sheath . It’s just not practical at all . The handle scales are the equivalent of grabbing a pine cone… the thickness of the caper ( which is ALOT smaller than the RW 100 ) is thicker and wayyy more comfortable than the RW 100 . Everytime I pick this knife up I just shake my head put it back on the shelf and pick up something else I just can’t stand it , it’s like they poured all their effort into the caper and then just said to heck with it on the RW 100 . I can not recommend this knife . You will not want to carry it due to it’s awful sheath design and you will not want to use it due to its awful handle design. The knife that mr welker used on alone had about a 4” blade and stag handles and it served him well for 100 days in some of the worst conditions possible. And for him to say that this RW 100 is THE survival knife?! Sheesh 🙄. Come on welker , get with case and fix this stupid sheath and handle. Your name is literally on the knife .

Just about perfect
This knife is beefy for its size, with good, thick steel, and perfectly balanced. The overall mass of the knife gives it good chopping ability. The deeply sculpted, somewhat slim, micarta handle provides the best grip I've ever felt on a knife. Feels good in the bare hands, would feel good with gloves at 20 below. The large base (pommel?) is actually very useful--you can pound things without damaging the handle, and it helps give this knife its perfect balance. Also it provdes a hole for a lanyard, which I always want.The whole point tapers dramatically, almost making two knives in one: a very beefy, thick hacker/slicer for the first 5.5', then a fairly fine tip. This allows for careful detail work alongside the brute work of the 5.5", but I think you'd have to remember to be careful of the narrow tip when putting the rest of the knife through the hardcore chops. Still, this all makes for a tremendously useful knife.The sheath is good: solid leather, sewn and riveted. I collect, and use, knives, and have all my life, and this is one of the very best I've ever encountered, at any price point.
