CIVC2010DS1: C2010DS-1 Damascus Odium Folding Knife

CIVIVI Knives

CIVIVI Knives are the kind that you give as a gift to a friend, whether or not they're into knives. Anyone will feel the quality and attention to detail as soon as they pick one up yet their price points will signify that these knives are built to be used. As direct competitors against the Spyderco Tenacious and Ontario RAT 1, it's honestly no comparison and we definitely know which is the best choice. Considering the materials are comparable, the amazing action that CIVIVI Knives possesses makes them the knives to beat in terms of the value folding market.

The Odium is another collaboration with Ferrum Forge Knife Works, based on the Malice but with value at the forefront of its design. Certain material choices were made to achieve this price point - mainly the D2 blade, G10 scales, and liner lock replacing the M390, titanium, and frame lock but it's also a much smaller design. However, sometimes you can get beautiful Damascus like this paired with wood scales, still for a steal of a price. This little guy shines as an everyday carry blade as its wide, stout nature makes it durable enough for hard use while remaining extremely easy to carry. The finger choil is excellent for fine detail work and hard use cutting while the thumb slot allows for multiple opening methods besides the flipper. The Odium is a really excellent design from Elliot and Chris that we think deserves recognition as a premier EDC piece that, for the money, is extremely hard to beat.

Great hand feel and mezmerizing damascus
I've been looking around for a Damascus knife. There are so many choices and so many prices. I also wanted it from a reputable company that will disclose the metal contents. Civivi uses a better mix of steel to make their Damascus than many others. It's not Damasteel obviously but it's affordable and looks a lot more expensive than it is. The choices of materials I also was surprisingly impressed with. The Cuibourtia wood has a nice grain feel to it. Gives a good tactile feel for pinch grips and just the right grip in your hand. The pattern of the Damascus has a slight texture to the waves. I like how the darker Damascus compliments the Cuibourtia wood. I didn't know how I'd feel about the hole but it does make for a nice non-flipper opening and closing. I also discovered when choking up close to the tip increases the contact with your fingers. This is a classy little knife with the fit and finish of a much higher-priced knife. It's a pleasure to EDC and its size, design, and materials are a bit less threatening. Nice when something beautiful can also be functional.
