CJBJ1904RGYF: Crag Recoil-Lock Flipper Knife, Gray G10

CJRB Cutlery

The CJRB Crag is a midsize folder with a large blade designed for heavy cutting tasks. The blade is a sheepsfoot with a more clipped point that gives both a piercing point and large belly, making it great for a variety of cutting jobs. The 3.43" blade has been stonewashed to resist wear and tear during heavy use. The handles feature a large finger groove and can accommodate a large hand. The handle scales are made from durable G10 that both looks good and feels great. The knife comes with a reversible stainless steel pocket clip and has a lanyard hole milled out of the bottom of the handle.

This knife is now being produced with AR-RPM9 steel, however, the original D2 version may still be shipping. If you have a specific steel preference, please include a note in the comments section at checkout for which steel you prefer. If we do not have the steel you prefer on hand, we'll contact you, otherwise, we'll email you the tracking number once your order ships.*

Pros: Weight, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Lock Ease of Use
First impression
I just received mine and my first impression is a heavy duty quality knife for the price. the flipping action using the flipper tab is slow do to no detent. The lock works well but in my opinion could use some modification, I wish that the grips on the side stuck out a bit more and had more texture and the top flared up more and again had more texture. For me I find the flipper tab to be in the way a bit when operating the lock when flicking the knife open. (I may remove the flipper tab). The scales have a nice grip and overall a nice feel in the hand. overall I am happy and can't wait to really put this knife to work.

I love this knife
I should probably be a better digital citizen and write more reviews, but the fact I'm writing this one speaks volumes about how much I love this knife. I've got a bunch of knives, many of them are top brands, but there's inevitably some feature that isn't everything I want.I got this knife in February and it is nearly perfect. I can open and close it one-handed, from slipping it out of my pocket, flipping it open, using it, unlocking the blade and flipping it back closed. It's really smooth and well designed. The fat blade is great for everything from cutting up kindling to fixing lunch. The reverse tanto is useful for opening boxes and makes for a thick, strong blade throughout the length of the knife. I have a knife sharpener that has standard and Asian grinds. I use the Asian grind on this knife and it's razor sharp and seems to hold that edge really well. The scales (I have the blue one) have a good grip surface without grabbing your pocket. So I gave the lock feature a 4 out of 5... I love it primarily because even my best knives have a liner lock or spine lock, something that keeps me from closing it one-handed. It takes a little practice (literally a few tries) before closing this one-handed is intuitive, but it's the only knife I own that I can do it with. Having said that, the latch mechanism could use just a little redesign to be simpler to release. Not bad, but not perfect.I'm planning on purchasing several more of these, so I have one in my truck, boat, toolbox, etc. This knife isn't just great for the money, it's a great knife.

Daily carry for several months
Frankly I’m not sure how you make a better knife for this price. The d2 blade came sharp and holds a great edge. Ive been keeping it sharp with a few swipes on a ceramic rod about once a week. The blade is very slicey due to a nice thin grind. I’ve had no issues with rust even leaving it in the dish drainer overnight forgetting to dry it. The action is reasonable and I would even say fast once you get used to the lock. The flipping action requires a little wrist flick because there is no detent due to the recoil lock. It is very figity. Straight out of the box the lock is tight but breaks in nicely after playing with it for a while. Personally I really like it. It has a very mechanical feel. Like driving a stick shift.
