CS58SQODBK: 58SQ-ODBK Andrew Demko AD-15 - OD Green/Black

Cold Steel

The AD-15 might be the most comfortable, user-friendly, sub-four-inch tactical folder Cold Steel has ever made. Modeled after Andrew Demko's patented original, it offers ambidextrous operation and opens and closes with one hand. The saber ground spear point blade comes with a false edge and includes jimping on the spine to assure great piercing ability and edge control when precision cutting is required. The AD-15's unique hybrid handle is what distinguishes it the most; because it features Andrew's famous Scorpion Lock. You see, the bottom portion of the handle has 3D-machined G10 scales mated to steel liners, while the upper portion of the handle, called the "yoke" is crafted from a 3D-machined 6061 aluminum billet that includes an integral backspacer which conceals a strong compression spring. To open the knife, simply engage the thumb stud and watch the yoke rise up until it falls snugly into a deep notch cut in the blade's tang. Held securely by constant pressure from the spring and, supported by the strength of one's grip, the Scorpion Lock is virtually immune from failure!

Disappointing
This thing has been a nightmare. Bought one from Amazon and the little pin in the blade that catches it when it closes was loose. Returned it because Amazon stinks, bought one from Knife Center. Same problem, you can literally pull the little pin out of the knife if you wanted. All the reviews for this thing are high and I've only seen one other mention of this pin problem on the entire internet, but now I've had two in a row. Sent it to Cold Steel, which recently sold to another company, and now their customer service STINKS. 3 weeks after I sent my knife to them, they sent the exact same knife back. Mind you I spent $18 to mail it to them in the first place. Well, now I'm patiently waiting for what will be my 3rd AD-15, and my hopes aren't high. I really wanted to love the knife and now it's looking like I'll probably just have to get Cold Steel to refund me, some how. Just wanted to leave a review to warn anyone eyeing this knife. Seems super tough out of the box, but that pin is looking like a big design flaw to me.

COLD STEEL FAN FROM WAY BACK
I was thrilled when KNIFE CENTER had a COLD STEEL sale. I grabbed a few boot knives and daggers but this AD-15 Scorpion is an unexpected treasure. The bang for the buck has always been COLD STEEL's forte. This knife just got moved into my EDC. It's beautiful and rock solid. Highly recommended for quality but priced for a budget. GREAT JOB as usual COLD STEEL. THANK YOU Knife Center.
