When looking for an EDC knife, one of the most important considerations is accessibility to bring the knife to bear quickly. The Pyrite uses a combination of its button lock mechanism with ceramic ball bearings in the pivot to make this knife quick to deploy and always ready in hand. The smooth action allows the blade to be flicked open with one hand with a press of the button lock or a flick of the thumbstuds. This knife can easily double as a fidget toy with how much fun it is to use. The blade is made from AR-RPM9, a proprietary steel that compares to D2 steel with an advantage in corrosion resistance. The handles are comfortable to hold and fits well in the hand thanks to its gentle curve and bevel designed to accommodate the index finger. The Pyrite comes with a reversible deep carry stainless steel pocket clip that allows it to be discreetly carried with you wherever you may go.

Pretty good
I bought this knife in February and have carried it daily since. I wanted to use the knife before giving a review. Being close too 6 months I feel I can give an honest one. It's a great knife! It's not the greatest steel in my opinion. Before this the best steel I owned was 8cr13mov on a $25 Smith and Wesson and I like that better. I do commercial maintenance and cut all sorts of different stuff. Not just cardboard like most reviews I've seen if they even cut anything at all. Ceiling tiles, carpet tiles, zip ties, plastic tubing, foam insulation my lunch and yes even cardboard the list goes on. I didn't expect some super steel at this price however it's not what I expected seeing as my Smith and wesson cuts just as good at half the price and takes far less time on the KME. It does however beat the Smith it ergonomics and fidgeting factor which is quite addicting. I've Sharpened the knife 4 times using diamond hones on a KME. The blade grind was very uneven and did not come all that sharp. It does however respond pretty well to a good strop which is a big plus and a plus over the 8cr13mov. I've completely dulled the edge twice, once cutting sheetrok around an electrical outlet and the other cutting a coke can. Normal use it's able to be stropped back quite well using JRE strop bat. I know that's not normal use but Sharpening after with the 140 grit stone on the KME took 45 minutes to raise a burr. I'm pretty new to the KME for what it's worth. I kept the factory edge which I've confirmed with an angle cube to be somewhat 20 degrees per side. With the KME it is now exactly 20 per side. I've found 600 grit followed by stroppping to be the best edge retention. All and all this really is a nice knife and I do not regret the purchase. In fact I'm planning on buying the whatncliff blade soon. It will be retired as my daily work knife though as I feel it's not up to a somewhat hard use style. For a nice dressed up occasion it fits the bill better in my opinion. Just ordered spyderco delica 4 in k390 as replacement which sparked this review.

Great EDC Knife
This is my first CJRB and I am very impressed. It has me looking at other knives in their line up. It’s a fantastic size and weight for edc and I love the look of the entire knife. It has so much going for it. Attractive thin flat grind drop point blade, button lock, thin solid feeling handle, smooth action. I have my eye on the Knifecenter exclusive version because I’m enjoying this one so much. One con as of now is I’m getting lock stick, that’s quite common with button locks. But I noticed the slot for the button/plunge lock to engage on the blade has quite a rough finish which probably contributes to the button stick.

Excellent knife, but
Very good knife, I loved it until the pocket clip came off. One of the two screws holding the pocket clip somehow came out and the weight of the knife (it's not that heavy) snapped the other screw, leaving me with no clip. While that may not matter to some of you, it was a really big thing for me. You can order replacement screws off the CJRB website for like 25 bucks. Otherwise, very solid knife. Came pretty sharp, durable and the button lock was smooth out of the box.
