The Cogent is like a button lock version of the old Incite design but with a handle shape and milling pattern we've definitely seen before. The model is not quite coming to us but that's just fine, the Cogent design stands on its own as one of CIVIVI's best and most versatile pieces. Don't believe us, it's one of the only knives they offer available with a partially serrated edge. It may not be the best looker with this edge type but functionally is absolutely unparalleled when it comes to cutting fibrous material like a rope. You've gotta have your plain edge blade hair popping sharp but a run of serrations makes this chore a breeze. Add in the ever-growing-in-popularity button lock and the caged ceramic bearings and you've got a stellar knife at an awesome price point. It makes a cogent argument to be your next knife purchase, will it be?

G10 Handles
Formed in a sheet under high pressure by combining fiberglass and an epoxy resin binder. These handles are lightweight and shaped to ensure a solid grip.
14C28N Stainless Steel
Made in Sweden by steel company Sandvik, 14C28N is a clean, high-quality alloy with exceptionally high toughness for a stainless steel.
The ergonomics are great and it is super slicey out of the box. The button lock feels very good, as does the flipper, love to fidget. The button lock spring is susceptible to corrosion. May require a little bit more care then a liner or frame lock but it's worth it.
I use this for processing cardboard. The blade arrived sharp and in a usable state. It's a handsome knife, especially given the price. Flipper action is smooth. On closing, I find the blade can bounce a bit off the frame, but that's likely just my technique. YMMV.Feels like a solid household utility knife to me. It's not heavy for its size, but it is too big and too heavy for what I would carry everyday (which is a Spyderco Dragonfly 2). I would not take into the bush on the regular, but there are few folders (outside of my SAK RangerGrip) that I would take. However, if I had it with me, I would feel confident using it to manage cordage and feather-sticking. It does not have a sharp spine at all (which you can look at as a plus for its intended use).Very satisfied by this purchase. It is my first civivi.
