Description

GB30000841: Propel Downrange AO

Gerber

A good tactical knife needs to be a problem solver. Gerber drew on the experience of U.S. military personnel and its own expertise crafting technical knives and tools to develop the Propel Downrange AO knife. The result is a tactical folder with assisted opening and a full-size blade that's as easy to handle and carry as it is durable and capable in the line of duty.

Premium Quality Built in Portland, Oregon

There's no question you'll be hard on this knife. Gerber built it in Portland, Oregon, using premium S30V steel to offer the most reliable edge possible. The partially serrated blade adds utility when cutting stubborn materials like stout nylon rope or tough plastics, but it's the premium quality of the steel and durable nature of the G10 composite handle that set this knife apart from others.

Swift Action

The smooth pivot of Gerber's Assisted Opening 2.0 mechanism offers seamless, one-handed opening, while the reliable plunge lock and safety switch secure the blade where you want it. Think easy, one-handed operation matched with a slim profile that sits comfortably in your pocket, whether you're travelling on-base or off. The tanto-style blade's matte-black oxide coating adds a stealth element where a stainless blade might give you away.

Customizable Carry

Personal preference dictates how you carry your knife, so Gerber designed the Propel AO with a three-way adjustable clip to customize the knife's orientation in your pocket or on your belt. You can set it for tip-up or tip-down storage and left-hand or right-hand bias.

Discreet and Comfortable

Gerber knows that to earn daily-use status, a folding tactical knife needs to fit your hand and pocket. The Propel's composite maintains a slim profile that complements the knife's balanced feel and still provides secure handling in all conditions. Maybe more importantly, you get a full-size tactical knife that carries discreetly and comfortably on the job and off.

Pros: None
Cons: Pocket Clip
Good(ish) knife, Gerber cst srvc is HORRIBLE.
Had the black Propel for about 2 years. So called life time warranty is a joke and totally misleading. The screws fell out while I was mowing. Contacted Gerber, waited a week, no response. Did so again no response, after the third attempt, aprox 2 months, I received an response asking me for a picture of the propel so they could see what screws. I did, waited and no responce after a couple of weeks. I asked if I could purchase all screws despite having a warranty and I would pay for the shipping too. Was told that the knife is out of production and can no longer get screws. I asked about their warranty and have yet to hear anything. That’s been almost a year. I’ll never purchase another product from them again, and can not recommend anyone else do so either.

Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Feel, Handle Material, Pocket Clip
Recently purchased Downrange AO 3.5 Black EDC Knife
This is my first $100+ EDC knife. I juggled between this knife and a Benchmade Bugout. I kind of wish I went with the Benchmade. Upon arrival the knife was very stiff to open. I had to oil it, to free it up. I have small hands but it should not be this hard to open an assisted knife. The pocket clip does not hold the knife securely in the pocket. There was a good gap between the clip and the body of the handle that made the knife slide out much to easy. It is a sturdy knife with a very sharp blade, but I am somewhat disappointed based on how much the knife cost. I have three Kershaw knives, much less expensive that are easier to operate.

Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Handle Material, Blade Material
Cons: Pocket Clip
Good knife crap clip.
Started out as a 5. The knife itself is good but the clip just doesn’t want to stay in. Had to have 3 different pocket clips purchased for mine. The issue is that the screws screw into the plastic handle so they strip out very very easily, even with locktite. They either need longer screws or metal spacers to scare them in to.
