Condor Tool & Knife

Joe Flowers, a designer for Condor Tool and Knife, collaborated with custom makers on a multi-use fixed blade knife in 2009. Ideally suited for bushcrafters, hunters, adventurers, and all sorts of woodsmen, the Condor Terrasaur Knife was the result. Now, Condor will be making the first production version of the knife, in a compact value based package. The goal of the Condor Terrasaur is to make an affordable super bushcraft knife that can be used by anyone, from the beginner all the way to the expert woodsman. With an indestructible polymer handle and ambidextrous sheath, backed by Condor's lifetime warranty, the Terrasaur has arrived. 

Designed by Joe Flowers

Joe Flowers is responsible for many of the interesting blade designs throughout the Condor product line. Joe writes for a myriad of magazines and publications, and contributes regularly to the outdoor community, concentrating in woodcraft and primitive living. His knowledge of outdoor gear led to consulting on equipment design and function for many companies. Joe holds a degree in Zoology with a minor in Entomology and researches heavily into all things outdoors. Joe Flowers teaches fitness, martial arts, organizes youth camps, and hosts outdoor skills and survival classes around the US. Joe is an avid naturalist, hunter, fisherman, herpetologist, videographer, beekeeper, knife thrower, guide, and regularly travels internationally in search of knife knowledge and unique animals. You can find Condor on Joe's side when he is deep in the Amazonian rainforest, or high in the deserts of Utah.

Great blade, poor sheath
I received this from Knife Center several days ago. The problem with the sheath is too much retention. I can't draw the knife one handed when the sheath is attached to my belt, and when unattached, so much force is needed to withdraw the blade, that I ended up cutting myself (minor). The sheath isn't just bad, it's dangerous. I have and use the Condor bushlore blades, and those come with Condor's leather sheaths. The leather sheaths are better, sturdy and easy to use. Potentially, the leather can get wet and rust the knife. Which is why I wanted a Condor knife with a plastic sheath. I thought Condor had said they fixed the sheath retention, but I guess not.

An extension of my body at this point
I am not the biggest knife guy. I EDC a knife because my daily chores demand it, but I haven't deeply studied the subject.I bought the Terrasaur about four months ago and have carried it nearly every waking hour since. It is by far the best working knife I have ever used. The blade girth and Scandi grind make it easy to sharpen and it holds an edge for many days. The blade profile provides edges for every task.I even appreciate the aesthetic - it's a working knife: No decoration, nothing to make it look "tactical". It does not draw attention on my hip and if it did, it would just look like the tool that it is.The only flaw I noted out-of-the-box was that the reversible sheath had weaker retention of sheath-to-beltloop than sheath-to-knife, causing it to come away from the loop when drawn, but a pop rivet and carving away some handle material to accommodate the rivet fixed this. I am right-handed and will always wear it spine-forward on my right side, so giving up the reversability is no loss, but having that option to begin with seems like a plus. Otherwise, the sheath has excellent ergonomics; the pommel rides right at belt level with exactly the right degree of flexibility. The whole package tucks neatly and unobtrusively into my jeans pocket and I almost never feel it's there.
