CR2795: 2795 Gulf, Designed by Ryan Johnson

CRKT

When a legend in tomahawk design sets his sights on a folder. RMJ Tactical has built itself a reputation on some of the most striking tomahawks and fixed blades the industry has ever seen. So when Ryan Johnson himself channels his immense industry knowledge into a folder, we know it's going to be good. The Gulf everyday carry is everything the industry expected and more: it's a big knife designed for big jobs.

Ryan Johnson of RMJ Tactical designed the Gulf in his Chattanooga, Tennessee shop. Taking notes from the nearby massive and impressive Sequatchie Valley, he gave it a beefy four-inch big-bellied modified clip point blade with a black stonewashed finish. A G10 handle is extremely tough and durable, making it a choice companion on his family's favorite Sequatchie hike, Soddy Gulf—its inspiration and namesake. It's readily available with a thumb stud for easy, one-handed deployment and stays securely in place with a locking liner. The deep carry clip helps it fly under the radar from the trailhead to the office and back.

Meet the only knife worthy of standing shoulder to shoulder with RMJ Tactical's tomahawks and fixed blades: the Gulf.

Uhm? i Disagree.
Take it to a stone once it's dull and you'll see what i mean.... yeah, hope you have a belt grinder!! it's a: way too thick of a face grind before the edge bevel. b: the one i received had mad inconsistencies on each grind. 1 side of the 'clip' grind near the spine was near nonexistent whereas the other side looked like a decent grind you would imagine for that style.i think the stippling for the grip texture is great for wet hands, but awful if you want to clip it for carry, it's far more aggressive than it needs to be with the chosen material & will definitely tear up any material of your pack or what you're wearing.the lock does sound nice but there's a bit of play back/forth with even slight stress, not surprising since when i look close the blade touches maybe 25% of the liner. anyway. i literally threw it in the trash, no i'm not joking.

A great working knife! Not for small hands
ProsThis is one heck of a folder with room to spare! I love the blade shape and overall feel of this beast. I have XXXL hands and it gives me room to spare on the handle which I don't find very often. Ryan/RMJ did a great job with the design and look for this folder it will be a very solid work horse. ConsI wish the liners were a tad thicker but I understand they needed to keep the weight down. On the plus it still has a very satisfying opening and lock up. If you have small hands this could be a little hard to use or control.Overall I would recommend this folder especially if you like big knives and want a good user for the job or to have in your truck just in case.
