Description

CS58SQB: 58SQB Andrew Demko AD-15 - Black

Cold Steel

The AD-15 might be the most comfortable, user-friendly, sub-four-inch tactical folder Cold Steel has ever made! Modeled after Andrew Demko's patented original, it offers ambidextrous operation and opens and closes with one hand. The saber ground spear point blade comes with a false edge and includes jimping on the spine to assure great piercing ability and edge control when precision cutting is required. The AD-15's unique hybrid handle is what distinguishes it the most; because it features Andrew's famous Scorpion Lock. You see, the bottom portion of the handle has 3D-machined G10 scales mated to steel liners, while the upper portion of the handle, called the "yoke" is crafted from a 3D-machined 6061 aluminum billet that includes an integral backspacer which conceals a strong compression spring. To open the knife, simply engage the thumb stud and watch the yoke rise up until it falls snugly into a deep notch cut in the blade's tang. Held securely by constant pressure from the spring and, supported by the strength of one's grip, the Scorpion Lock is virtually immune from failure!

Cons: Pocket Clip, Weight
Great knife, great lock
It's a big, heavy knife. You NEED to know that. It's not for everyone, BUT, it really is a great knife. Crazy smooth opening, factory edge that's so sharp it'll cut a thought into thirds before it knows it's been formed. The Scorpion Lock keeps your digits out of the way when you're closing the knife, great design. I love Cold Steel knives, I own several. It's overbuilt for hard use, and it will take the abuse.

Cold Steel's Demko's AD-15's Scorpion Lock EDC stings in a good way.
I collect. Not for use in the field. But for the feel. I already have four (4) Demko models, three AD 20.5s; a Cold Steel Demko AD-10, Now an AD-15. I like Demkos. But, I passed on the AD-15. Who knew? It took Nick Shabazz on YouTube conversing with a vendor in conversation about Nick's top 10. Surprise! The custom AD-15 Demko version is mirrored in Cold Steel's edition of the AD-15 with unbridled enthusiasm. What had I missed? My error. But the AD-15 doesn't look like an EDC. Or does it? Admittedly, Cold Steel's products arrive in pristine condition. Unboxed, the AD-15 has an unusual appearance. First, it's Hefty. Looks complicated. Swings open a very large slice of a very sharp blade. At first I had no idea what to do once I opened the blade. The was the easy step? Not soI figured out how the Scorpion Lock worked intuitively. In no time. Not possible? Then I discovered how to manipulate the Scorpion Lock with one hand. Wow! Now I love this Monster. The blade flies open and swings closed with precision. In hand, the handle texture is very good, comfortable. Reassuring as long as I am on the handle side. The balance equates with every aspect of the EDC, blade, in hand feel, closed centered position, ease of operations. Cold Steel, Demko, Bravo! As usual my two knives (an accompanying Rat2) arrived by jet pack in KCI's usual shipping. And thank you, Nick. Heartily, recommended,
