Cold Steel

The Cold Steel SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) has been a proud flagship blade in their line-up for over 25 years. The knife of choice for many of our brothers and sisters in the military, it remains the standard issue fixed blade of the Navy SEALs during BUDS training to this day. It's little wonder then, that when Cold Steel tasked their in-house custom knifemaker Andrew Demko with developing a high-end tactical folding knife for military application, that he took inspiration from the legendary SRK! The SR1 features Andrew's signature minimalist style, with no unnecessary flourishes or embellishments, just pure functional, no-nonsense, practical design. The SR1's heavy duty blade is made to be put to work. Crafted from 0.1875" thick American CPM-S35VN premium powdered steel, it's a heavy-duty workhorse, designed for the harshest and most unforgiving environments. A good blade needs a good handle, so the SR1's handle is made from premium G10 with heat treated nested steel liners. With an integrated lanyard hole and coarse-textured surface for a secure grip even in cold, wet conditions, and expertly contoured to allow for a comfortable and safe grip even while wearing heavy gloves. For added reliability and peace of mind, Cold Steel equipped the SR1 with their world-famous Tri-Ad locking mechanism - proven time and time again to weather even the worst abuse, with unparalleled shock and impact resistance - making this knife the ideal choice for a survival rescue blade intended for our nation's warrior elite!

Tough MF'er
This knife is a huge, heavy beast. I got it for hard use at work. S35VN sharpens up nicely and happily takes a beating. The back lock is equally tough as nails. The tanto's tip is great for piercing and scraping, while the main edge slices and chops like Jason Voorhees. There are a couple issues that keep it from being perfect, though. Fit and finish are only so-so. The locking bar is not beveled evenly. It doesn't affect the function, but it might annoy some people. Then there's the pocket clip. Holy crap. It's RIDICULOUSLY stiff. This, plus the rough texture under it, makes the knife totally un-pocketable. I had to modify it significantly to make it work. Lucky for me, I have access to machines, but this would have been a deal breaker if I didn't. Do NOT buy this knife if you're unable to modify the pocket clip.

Best Tanto Folder so far
Received my SR1 Tanto 2 days ago from Knifecenter, and it's actually lighter than I expected. Many reviews mention how big it is, not ideal for EDC, and etc. so I thought it would be monstrous, but I was wrong - I am very satisfied with it overall with the exception of the pocket clip (I had to bend it to open it up some). The blade of it is like the fixed blade counterpart, which offers a strong profile for regular cutting and self defense applications. I can definitely open it and close it with one hand operation (not sure why someone said they couldn't). A highly recommended EDC knife for self defense and other usage. Don't worry about the weight, it's about as heavy as a iphone.

Awesome EDC
I carry this muti purpose knife because it performs several tasks exceptionally well. It is an incredible defensive weapon, excellent in the bushcraft field for light to medium battling and tinder/shavings, box cutting, envelope opening, skinning, food prep, and a host of other chores. It is very comfortable with my medium size hand. The blade tension is fully adjustable and as usual, the picket clip needs adjusting. A major benefit is that the owner of this beauty can easily contour this knife to his/her preference. I carry this one AND the clip point. They are like a Custom Shop Recon1.
