Good, could have been great
I received this as a X-mas present. I've been wanting one since the model came out. Now that I have one, I have to admit that some of the design choices are questionable. The Good: The grind is clean and even. The edge is sharp (though I've had sharper out of the box). The crowning on the exposed tang is very comfortable in hand. The Bad: The kydex extends much further up the handle than needed, making unsheathing frustrating. The micarta scales are sharp around the lanyard hole. When palming the end of the handle for things like carving a bow-drill hole the corners dig in and create hot spots. The beak is short and needlessly sharp as is the end.The Weird: The jimping makes no sense. The section on the blade is much further out than any other knife I've owned, and the section at the end doesn't work unless your reverse grip is for some weird combat method. All in all, it's a great knife. I like it, I just don't see how it works as a hard-use outdoor tool as designed by Voxnaes and Anso. That's the stated purpose. It's more of a tactical/EDC with flaws.Three stars because of the design issues alone. Would be two, but if repurposed as an EDC it still works.
