ME389RV: 389/RV Atti Folder, Green Burl Wood

Maserin

Designed by Attilio Morotti, one of the most talented custom knifemakers in all of Italy, the 389 Atti model is like a production version of one of his customs. This beautiful folder is an ideal gentlemen's knife, though only in appearance. At the heart of this knife is a serious tool with tactical capabilities. The 2.75" blade is made from Bohler N690 stainless steel, which has a great ability to hold an edge, is one of the most corrosion-resistant stainless steels available and is easy to re-sharpen when it needs to be. The handle is wood with file worked stainless steel liners which give this knife a beautiful look. It definitely has a stout feeling in the hand and provides you with the confidence you need to handle any cutting task.

Pros: Weight, Ease of Opening, Blade Material, Overall Quality, Blade Sharpness
Cons: None
Beautiful and elegant knife
This is a gorgeous knife. I admit it is so pretty, I just use it for lighter tasks. I love to carry when going out but never to work as I work in a pretty harsh environment. I really enjoy the look and feel of the polished liners, too many folding knife companies just half-ass the liners and sometimes they can be sharp enough to even seem dangerous or catch your fingers on.. I did change the thumb stud with a turquoise one and it sets off the knife. It opens up butter-smooth, blade locks up tight and is nicely centered when closed. I did notice a slight gap at very bottom between liner and backspring that I think could be tighten if I took off handle but not worried about it

Pros: Blade Material, Blade Sharpness
Cons: Handle Feel, Handle Material
nice blade, poor knife
I have used the knife to open a few boxes, cut leather, and a little bit of whittling. The knife arrived sharp and with smooth operation. However, the handles were loose and so was the lock. Only had it about a week and one of the handles are cracked. The bolster is at best even with top of the handle if not a wee bit above making it uncomfortable. Also the edges of the handle are not rounded but right angles making this uncomfortable to use for anything more than about 1 minute. When I get the time will make my own handle and have a knife I can use hopefully.
